If you suppress reboots then reboots will not happen. Don't confuse that setting with only allow reboots during maintenance windows.   Check these out:   http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/archive/2008/01/09/111261.aspx   http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/archive/2008/01/08/111236.aspx   John Marcum

You "shouldn't" need to worry about this.  Check out this discussion - it talks about a newer version of IE7 that addresses this: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2592665&SiteID=17   thx, Eric

In our development network I didn't uninstall ITMU first and so some of the misinformation could be related to that but I believe it's more down to software update history on the clients. You don't have to uninstall ITMU. It gets upgraded as part of the SCCM upgrade if you leave it there. You can still use the SCCM version of ITMU on any SMS Clients you still might have not upgraded. Only other feature packs like OSD have to be...

I'm ready to start deploying updates to our company clients and servers but need to create a company policy that applies to both the servers and managed and un-managed clients (remote users). Does anyone have a sample I can go by?   Also, how are you notifying\training the end users of what to expect? If anyone has a sample that would be great.   Thanks.

I've installed WSUS 3.0 sp1 and all is running great, except for one client.  I get an Event ID 13042 / Clients / Self-Update not working.  This error appears consistantly at 12 hour intervals. This particular client is reporting, etc, and from all else that I have seen, it is functioning as expected.  The only differenence with this one client, is it is not only a client, but it is also the ...

SCCM will force a client to restart (regardless of the template setting) at a Software Update deployment deadline, right?  To counteract this would you need to set a maintenance window for the collection?

Hi, I have configured all the necessary configurations in SUP in SCCM Server 2007. My only question is how can i create a template that will install updates accordingly in a sequence. For example and my most concern is Windows XP SP3. If IE7 is not installed and before installing IE7 if XP SP3 is installed then we cannot install IE7 until we remove XP SP3. So is there a way i can declare this...

Not sure if this is the right fourm, but there was an inventory tool for Dell that was available for SMS 2003 and I was wondering if there is something similar for SCCM. If not, will the tool work if installed for SCCM?   TIA!

I'm having this issue with a number of systems, but not most.   They are not even running the patch deployments while I have plenty of others that are compliant.   I've examined the ConfigMgr, WSUS and Client logs and they aren't indicating any errors, they just aren't running the updates.  They do run normal advertisements just fine.   Here are some log snippets: ...

In the Update Repository I have the appropriate folders that I selected to sync. However, I have one that stands out and its name is "Legacy Updates" I do not know where this one has come from or how to delete it. I have updated from SMS 2003 and I am thinking it could be some leftover repository from that. Is this folder needed and if not how can I remove it from the current Repository?...

I'm having trouble understanding this.  In my lab, Software Updates status is saying that ms08-032 - 950760 for XP is Expired.  However, I don't see that this update has been superceeded by another update.  Why is it expired then?  If a user were to deinstall this update I would want it to get reinstalled when the client runs Deployment Reevaluation process....
