In general I seem to be able to avoid the problems that people post about here...but I'm not immune to PC trouble. Last night my computer did not boot. I discovered that the BIOS was not detecting either of my (ancient IDE) hard drives. The BIOS was fine: It was detecting my other hardware and the clock showed the right time. Sounds like the only thing you have not tried is a full recovery with the original OEM CD/recovery partition. Which should work as your copy of XP Home SP2 worked. Have your tried updating your drivers. If your operating system is not insync with your hardware then it could cause the BSoD. You can get driver updates from the manufactures Web site. Just my 2 cents
