Hello jshuang, You likely got an answer in minutes. Try the following formula in a number field: ProjDateDiff([Project Start],[Start])/[Minutes Per Day] This will show the number of days between the start of the Project and the start of the task. I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along. Julie Project MVP Visit http://project.mvps.org/ for the FAQs and additional information about Microsoft Project "jshuang"...

MSProject allows you to baseline all tasks or selected tasks. It works the same way for removing a baseline. To set or change a baseline, Tools/Settings (or it may be Tracking) then select Set Baseline. It should be pretty intuitive from there. If you select only certain tasks to set into your baseline (or remove from your baseline), make sure to select both the rollup boxes. I recommend not using $0 resources on "excluded...

Andrew, I think the word "superstition" is overloaded with meaning and is too strong. I think that following those long established practices is a good thing because as has been seen many times, bugs do persist even after they have supposedly been fixed. The problems with caching were "fixed" multiple times, but relying on those "fixes" would still leave you with a problem. I guess my...

Hello JulieS, Yes, I thought of the two solutions that you proposed. I think I will use the second one (entering the possible combinations). Actually, this is not so bad, as I could leave the list as it is now. In the cases when I have several resources, I just enter them and separate them not with a coma, but with a /. This way the entry will be automatically remembered in the list and I could use it the next time a similar task comes. Thank...

Hello TNCAdams,
I have certainly seen that before and I'm not sure I'd call it an
anomaly. Project is doing exactly what you asked, it is keeping the
duration fixed. Change the task type to fixed work or fixed units
and you'll see the duration drop. Once it's dropped, you could set
it back to fixed duration if needed.
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Project counts 1 day as 1 work day which brings you back to 19 MAR 2010. You
can use elapsed days or FS-30ed (elapsed days). A word of caution, elapsed
time may cause tasks to fall on non-work days such as Saturday or Sunday.
Negative lag (lead time) is generally not a good scheduling practice as it
implies certanity for a future event. If there is only one task holding you

You haven't said what the working times are for the two shifts, but let's

For simplicity, 8 hours per day and I have left out meal breaks and both

First, you need a Calendar called "AA 16 Hour Day Calendar" which has
working time from 08:00 - 22:00.

Hello Connie,
I'm assuming you're talking about Project here, not Excel. Unlike
Excel, Project does not have the capabilities of "locking" ranges
nor protecting a table or view. If the user has access to the
Project file, s/he can pretty much do everything.
I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi
As John has advised it is good to use resource scheduling features fully.
From your post it is not clear why exactly you want to assign resources. If
you want to do this to know each day how much of each resource is required so
that you may have them available as per the time schedule you may follow the
following steps.
1. Have all your tasks as 'Fixed duration' so that when you ...

Hello Prasad,
Not to the best of my knowledge. The Task Driver pane and the Task
Form showing predecessors and successors will certainly show all
dependencies but it would require selecting each task in turn.

Random assignments doesn't sound like Resource management to me.
You are better off assigning particular real individual people as soon as
you know who it might be, even if it might change.

Thanks for your thoughts Rob but I'm not trying to insert a whole project into a consolidated project. Ive merely taken 5 tasks from a project containing about 60 tasks and copied them (using 'paste special') into a blank project. Any changes made to the original tasks should be relected in the same tasks in the blank project shouldnt it?. This is happening apart from % complete.
