But, since you want input, here are some things: On the home page, I wonder what it would look like with the photo of the control room above the text "Welcome to MoatHouse Website"? On my 13' macbook I had to scroll down to see it. And why welcome people to the website? Why not welcome them to MoatHouse Recording? Also: Isn't it Langevin instead of Langavin? And I...

Caught two separate mentions of this project in the latest Rolling Stone. Kinda cool to be "talkin'" about it before hand with the engineer. Woot! Joel is my favorite mythological creature.

this is all good feedback my only comment is: the bright green on gray? it looks like a gaming web site of some kind and it's pretty harsh on the eyes. try a color scheme that goes with the vibe of the studio that i see in the photos. _________________ -Justin Newton jntracks.com full service production/recording/mixing/mastering + a budget.

Generating Revenue

a tad off topic, but you may want to spice up your website a bit. that may help you generate more band income...i didn't get a feel for who you are; which is important for bands- they're not booking a studio, they're booking someone to help make their vision a reality. i would suggest a couple websites, one geared for bands, one geared for the more corporate clients you're seeking out...each will drive the other away....

QUICK GLIMPSE FIRST IMPRESSION from a Younger Musician. I think you have a real TACKY header. I don't like the design and the color for that matter; the vibrant green is just kind of off-putting and sends out that stale early 90's internet vibe.... I'd also loose the counter, though its cool & useful to know how many people have visited or whatever, it also has its down side as well and screams amateur; If you really...

..and BTW I was not discrediting the recording school route by any means. Several of my friends have degrees from Recording Sciences programs and got a lot out of them. I just chose a different path and it's worked well for me so far. _________________ Seaside Lounge Recording Studios http://www.seasidelounge.com/ Kaoss Pad Recording Services http://www.myspace.com/kaosspadrecordingservices

I only spent about 60 seconds looking at it, but I like it. It's got personality in a good way. Good gear photos. Enough nav. Looks to me to be on a par with most studio sites I see.
One thing you might want to look into is Search Engine Optimization. If your site never comes up in relevant searches, it might be kinda useless. Although it seems to me most studio business comes from ...

First off, I know there's a ton of hip hop on here, sorry that's not my thing. My studio does primarily indie rock, some folk, and some classical. Also, if you want to learn how to make dynamic-free radio turds, or Puddle of Mudd type stuff, there are plenty other options for you ... I prefer to make fairly realistic / open sounding records...

Well, you'd probably be giving up a staff engineer position for a world of freelance. I wouldn't go out there unless you had some concrete leads. There is work, but remember there are a million people doing the same thing, so be prepared to hustle and STILL not find work. unless you want to second for a few years ... : )
The mid level studio has been pretty gobbled up by home studios ...
