Philips 5000 series LCD - USB H.264

Hello Everyone, I just got this new LCD TV, Philips 5000 series (42PFL5604D/78), its a Full HD TV and it comes with a USB port. On the guide it says that it can read H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. I have several .mkv 720p files, but it doesn't play the .mkv files. Which format and how should I convert them to play them in full quality on my TV USB? Thank!

hello, i just found this website, and i registered because i really need help with my codecs. My situation is complicated, i hope that if anyone reads this, will be able to understand. I have just reinstalled my windows xp, and before the reinstallation i had the divx codec pack and everything worked just fine, with bs player and sm player, the two players i like to use. Thanks for your reply... appreciate it! My only problem is with Windows Media Player. Other media players (vlc, media player classic etc) works fine and I can adjust video settings well within the player itself. I reckon it could be a WMP bug. Why? You files will only get bigger. The quality won't become any better. You need a high quality input file for 320kps to be useful.
