Not that I want this topic to start up again on this forum, but I would like to let people know about the following: Annette Broersma sent an e-mail indicating she is collecting letters to send to the ITA related to foreign players receiving tennis scholarships. Part of this e-mail is excerpted below. Please note, the emphasis is mine... "To all those who were involved in the......

This is what the Yale men's tennis coach. Alex Dorato, says about his tennis practices with his team. Thought maybe some people would be interested or have comments. Looks like he's doing a really good job and I like his practice format. Running an effective practice is critical to enabling your players to reach their potential each day and in the long run. As college coaches, we have a ...

I'm going to be visiting a few schools soon, and want to play tennis in college. I doubt I'm good enough to get recruited, but I might have a chance of just walking on. When I visit the college, is it smart to call first and talk to the coach, or just meet him in person first? I've also heard you aren't allowed to hit with him watching, or with any of his team, but that doesn't really make sense...

This thread can be the first one in the official college tennis area for club tennis. I just graduated from Syracuse, where I was Captain for two years, and club tennis was a really great experience for me. This past year I really got out act together and we had some really good players. We played at Flushing Meadows (including Armstrong Stadium) for a tournament in the fall, we won our...

I know that high school tennis isn't as much of a deciding factor as USTA tournaments when it comes to getting looked at by colleges, but would playing doubles or singles in HS be preferred? I'm asking this because: 1. With the schools I'm currently interested in, I would be far more likely to play doubles than singles. And 2. If I play doubles for HS, I have great odds at placing in state...

Make sure you when you sign in that you put yourself as an amateur. If you put P for professional you will be stuck forever in a sea of paperwork trying to prove the expense ratio. Keep in mind that if a player is good enough to be playing in futures as well as on a college team, they are going to be played a lot by the college team. Adding pro stuff to this kind of schedule could be ...

I'm curently around a 4.0 ntrp and am going into my junior year at high school. I'm wondering what the general level u need to play at the college level. Also, I was wondering what universities in California that you can recommend that I could probably make that have both good academics and tennis. Thanks

I will be finishing up at a community college fairly soon and would like to transfer to a college that will have a tennis team with red clay courts. If at all possible I would like to stay in the north east part of the U.S. But I know that it would probably be unlikely to have red clay in the north east. I would be majoring in recreation/ some sort of fitness major and I would want to play...

As a college tennis coach...I gotta say you need to do some research. You need to go watch matches for schools of all sizes...even D3. The reason why...you may realize you have work to do still to make a team at any level. I am not saying it to be ugly, but I coach at a D3 and we play D1's every year and beat them badly. It's more about finding a school where you can get a great education and ...

During my stay at an Adidas Tennis Camp in Madison, WI...we had a guest speaker (the Head Women's Coach of the Badgers) come talk to us about college and recruiting. In his 15 minute or so speech he stated that all college coaches would like someone who is a hard worker and gives 100% all the time but he also said that coaches would never deny true talent. College Coaches will never deny ...
