Box Of Awesome (BOA) World Tour...
Published (2009-11-28 15:11:00)
Has anyone else had weird things happen, just being on the list? I sense that the BoA might be close to self-awareness..... and may have the ability to see into the future, knowing who its next "owner" will be. I say "owner" because no one really owns the box... if anything its the other way around.... Some of my symptoms have been: - The general world seems darker. I know it's winter, but it seems...

Backwards wah?

I need to listen to the track, but from the description it sounds like a similar sound you can get out of the Artec APW-7 wah by cranking the 'wish' knob so it self-oscillates. Running this into a fast leslie effect and some delay sounds like spooky ghosts - I'll do you a clip!

Anybody else going all software?...
Published (2009-11-28 22:00:00)
I'm going about 50/50 hardware/software and should be done with my setup in the next 2 weeks or so. I'm using an Axe-Fx ultra for all of my amp modeling, time-based, and modulation needs. My Nord G2 Engine handles most of the synth and external filtering. I'm using my Macbook (non-pro) right now but I have a Mac Mini on the way that I'll be mounting in the rack. It's going to run Ableton 8. Then I'll have a MOTU...

I didn't have them at the same time, but I've owned the EBS (actually 2 - I just bought another one) and the MXR.
In short, the EBS is smoother sounding and the MXR is more versatile.
The "Growl" knob of the MXR is essentially the same as an OC-2 so it is very synthy and distinct. The "Girth" knob is big and thick but indistinct. By blending them (and using the mid switch if you want ...

I really need to play up an octave to make it useful. I know that in my current mellow gig, an analog octave is too dominant a sound to fit in without drawing attention away from the whole song. I can use the octave down on my HOG very effectively, though ( micro pog could fit your situation better). I like to use them to thicken a part or make a part more funky.

You need either one of Roland's synths (such as the V-Bass, VG-99, GR20),
or a converter box to allow you to plug into a tone module.

it's totally active friendly, it may sound a little different using an
active bass, but i'd assume its be the sort of difference between plugging
an active and a passive bass into a tube amp-- but i've never noticed
anything negative

I just don't think a lot of people are using the Reel Echo so there won't be a lot of us that are able to comment.

What the Sonic Stomp has done for me (as well as many others that i have heard of using it) is it boosts my lows and clears up my highs. It gives me a "fuller" sound that helps me sit in the mix a little better.

Umm...say wha?
Also, if you want a monophonic octaver to perform even decently in that range, I would advise you to take a look at the first few posts on this page. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...

woohoo! (rarely get a chance to do that )
here it is, no change since i got the mastotron and the eventides.
actually have both the eventides wired stereo in/stereo out now, this pic is obviously dated heh.
hopefully i can get enough dough sometime soon to get the boobies assmaster in there - i really want that thing.
i'm also wiring myself up a P&C clone, just ...

"Don't suck" and "do suck" is very subjective.
I for instance think that the BOSS CEB-3 Bass Chorus "sucks".
Although many here use one and are happy with it.
What you are going to get now is people listing their favourite chorus pedals, still you have to try them out to hear what's good to your ears.
My favourites although I don't use much chorus:

The Akai Unibass is designed to do exactly what you want. It was marketed as a " rhythm guitar in a box", or something like that. Do a search for "Unibass"
to learn more.
They are no longer in production, but not all that rare. And their prices aren't inflated to the degree of Akai Deep Impacts. I recently bought one on eBay for just under $200. There is currently a listing for one at $250...

I've been using one that belongs to a friend. The more I use it the more I
like it. At first I didn't really care for the gain based effects, but as
I've gotten used to tweaking them they've become one of my favorite parts
of the pedal. I'm also finding useful delay, reverb, chorus and tremolo. I
haven't gotten much I like out of the filters but I'm not a big filter
person anyway. I'm a little ...

I've got a regular mess drive. I love it, however can't get the full fury
out of it in my dorm. It really seems to need a big amp and lots of volume
to get the best sounds.
