Hi, I have recently bought a Finale Carbon bow (French) from Stringemporium for 340 dollars http://www.stringemporium.com/carbon...-bass-bows. htm . This price included a hard-case and a cake of rosin of choice. During last weekends
rehearsal I got to use my new bow a lot. We played a lot of Finnish folk in which my role was more to set an atmosphere in addition to setting time/groove....

I've added a bit to my profile. I've been playing bass fairly intensively for about 4.5 years, having switched from
trombone. I have had a good teacher all along, but she is a German bow player. We are both puzzled by my arm aches.

Just a note to say I ordered a cake of medium on Saturday and it was at my door on Monday! Amazing service from Arnold and wonderful rosin! Do yourself a favor !

I agree Pops it the way to go Another thing is that is you do not know how to hold the bow you should get a teacher. cheers

I'm mostly an electric player but am eager to get back into bowing and pick up where I left off years ago. I play a French bow. Back when I started, I overpaid ($400) for a wood bow that plays fine. I've tried a couple carbon fiber bows that cost about $250 that feel easier to play. I'm thinking of going to my local retailer and comparing my wood bow with less expensive synthetic bows to ...
