When I was a kid, I read somewhere that James Brown conducted band rehearsal with a revolver, and I thought, "What a jerk, I would quit that band right away!" Now that I've been in (and quit) a number of bands, I think, "Damnit! Can't I find a band where the leader has a @#$%ing GUN AT ALL TIMES?!" I'm sick of this constant foolin around! (I have no idea if JB actually carried a gun during...

Yeah, well maybe its a huge problem.... Or maybe the guy just had a bad day. Not excusing the behavior, but I've had good friends do stupid things at rehearsal and it was just crap in their life etc. If you like the band, before you pull the plug you could at least try to listen to the guy. Sounds like maybe no one else is. Lines in the sand are cool, but this problem could ...

Sounds like a bunch of 13 year olds, but you say you went to college so that can't be it. In that case, it sounds like lousy bandmates. Find a better situation.

Great Musicians(there all better than me ) Have some amazing vocals cross the boss with guns and roses, the two vocalist just kill it. Cant find a steady drummer, and one of the guitarist/vocalist/writers seem to think everyone hates him and has this huge complex with always being right and wanting do praise songs in bars . So were working on it.

I am constantly in two bands. The trick is be totally up front with both groups about the situation, and try to schedule things as far in advance as possible. This will help avoid conflicts and last minute disappointments. ohh yea and keep really good knowledge of your schedule don't agree to anything unless you know you have the time to do it, and it wont conflict with the other band.

I'm a very laid-back person and usually avoid confrontation (as much as we all try to leave our attitudes at home, sometimes circumstances force them onto us even at practice - it's like). I usually just try to hold my words if somebody is upset and just push to keep focused on practice. I'm lucky enough to have never dealt with a band where I quit because of somebody unless the band was ...

You're not happy with the current band anyway. Go for it. There's no guarantee any of those guys won't quit tomorrow. Hopefully the bad ones. Or no reason you can't stay with both until you figure out which one you like best. The first band isn't working much, as long as there won't be a conflict with gigs. Randy

Practice, practice, practice. Practice alone until you have the song down to perfection. Then jam together to iron out the details.

Our band has played three shows already. On the first, I couldn't get my knees to stop trembling for about 10 min. The second two were better for me, but last show our guitarist was so nervous he blanked out in the middle of a song. Is this just a question of doing it as much as possible and getting used to it?

How long has the band been together? Is this the original lineup or are members coming and going? How much alcohol and drug use? Is there a leader in the band... or is there a band vote on issues? Who controls the songs that are picked to be played? Do we all get a cut of gig money? Even split or band fund? What is the dedication level of the band, a hang, fun, serious, or rule the ...
