Artsy Cages?

I agree with LC. That cage is terrible for a Conure. Go with something bigger and stronger. You'll just end up having to buy another one rather quickly as the bird will likely destroy that one. Try a flight cage . Much larger and better suited for a small Conure.

The cage is the bare minimum size for a conure, or even for a cockatiel. It is, in fact, the starter cage I used for my first cockatiel. I soon traded up to a larger enclosure. Basically, the larger you can go, the better, so long as the bar spacing isn't too far apart for a small bird. Definitely check out larger cages at the pet store -- or for much better deals, ebay. Large cages can be found there. They come with very poor assembly...

Desmond & Dee Dee surprised...

They are getting so big so fast! The fourth egg is pipping.... another baby very soon. Because we are feeding the babies, we end up waking up some of the birds when we get fresh formula. Dee Dee hates to be woken up for anything, so he screams, yells, screeches, and curses us every night. We keep telling him he'd better be thankful, cause its his babies we are feeding. The lack of sleep is so worth it with these little guys!

Artsy Cages?

Hi guys, This is my first post on the forum! I'm getting a green conure soon from a friend, and getting together my purchases to make his new home lots of fun... Being kind-of creative (not as artsy as I'd like) I want to make his cage unique and entertaining. I'm going to be buying this cage in black (sorry if the pictures turn out large): I'm going to put up a thin plexiglass sheet on the back of the cage, and put up...

Oh, I forgot to add the pictures of our new neighbors... I am not sure if these are Cherry Headed Conures or Mexican Red Heads or what, but there are hundreds of them and they all roost in some big trees a couple hundred yards from my window. Their morning and evening flock calling is insaaaane and the sound screams "Aratinga" even if I never saw what they looked like. But it doesn't really bug me that much. Ducky loves...

Once you actually have the bird, you'll figure out what does and doesn't work as far as cage set up. A Plex back sounds good, it will keep your wall at least a little clean! You may want to rethink the cage though. Not only are the sliding doors dangerous unless clipped shut, the coating on the cage is very similar to paint and chips off extremely easily (the metal underneath is not safe and will end up rusting). Plus, birds tend to...

Depends on where you and your friend are. I know in my area I paid $400 for my girl. I know other people on here have paid much less, but mine was hand reared from a breeder, I got to visit her regularly until she was weaned and ready to come home, and she cost less then they charge at the local Petco and PetSmart. Best bet is from a breeder. Some great birds can come from pet stores but a ...
