I had a great time romping through London with Holmes and Watson, which is what I love from the books Heh. I was a bit distracted during the final battle by the scenery. I thought they did an excellent job of recreating London of that time.

Three Days! It has been snowing for Three Days! It just keeps coming down in waves alternating between heavy and light. There is now 13" of fresh snow on the ground (on top of the 11" from two weeks ago). The average for one year is around 25" and we've almost reached that in one month. That's it? I liked Sherlock Holmes too. It's been a long time since I read the stories, but it seems...

I loved RDjr and Jude Law in their roles though so adjusting to different may be hard Heh. My issue was that Mark Strong, who played Blackwood, looks so much like the late Jeremy Brett, who is my favorite Holmes, that every time he was on the screen, for a split second I thought it was Holmes. Plus, Holmes is taller than Watson, so that was a little strange for me, too. I'm going to show my dad bits of a Brett episode so he can see what...

We've got snow here, but it's the wet, yucky kind and not the fun kind. My niece wants to go and play in it, but ew. Hopefully we'll get one good one (who am I kidding, it's Indiana, of course we will) so we can do the snowballs, snowmen and come inside and *not* have hot chocolate, as my niece hates chocolate milk and variations thereof.

I also wonder why, ... it is necessary to try and "broaden the fan-base" or try to appeal to the brainless wonders that constitute the popcorn movie audience who would are often put off by the main title. The only way to do that is to cut out what makes Trek completely unique from other scifi franchises and turn it into another bland, Hollywood fare which is precisely what Abrams and his team of hacks went and did. Yeah, on...

Patrick Stewart is going to be knighted ! There are no dragons for him to slay these days, but maybe we can find a Gorn in need of a good Picard speech.

The snow has begun in the Philadelphia area - and it doesn't look like it's going to stop for a long, long while. But so far it's nice, powdery snow.

My computer is in the shop getting a new hard drive but I'm using a IBM laptop loaner from Mark's office. I think it's in "hiatus" because I recently wrote a Voyager extra and the only way to get that to appear on the homepage is not to have it in "Permanent Hiatus." Aw thanks, PK Tech Girl ! I hope you like the "Farscape" recap I get to do!

Awesome. Thanks, cutecouple . So, what do we (think we) know so far? Maybe Pike. Maybe Shatner and Nimoy. Lt. Kirk and the "no bloody A, B, C, or D" Enterprise. What else?

Ah geez, Star Trek makes me cry like a baby. When I was at college, Spike would play two episodes of DS9 and three of TNG all in a row...I would watch them all. And every day, at least one made me cry (though it was usually more like 2 or 3 made me tear up...) So far, all good choices (Inner Light, Offspring, Visitor). DS9's Sacrifice of Angels does it to me real bad. I didn't care as much ...

Police Seek Klingon For Questioning: A police knife amnesty appears to have got off to a flying start with even alien criminals giving up their arms in the face of stern looks from the local bobby. The national initiative, which began yesterday and continues until 30 June, is predicted to see 30,000 illegal blades turned over to authorities with no questions asked. Most surprising, though, was...

Ana , he regularly showed up during that season playing one of the Ever Useless Elders (TM Demian ). Elizabeth Dennehy (Cmdr. Shelby) had a recurring role as "Sandra", another one of the Ever Useless Elders . John de Lancie playing "Odin" (according to imdb.com) I don't know that any of the Elders were ever named on screen. They might have been given names in the script, but I ...

I suspect we would go at a different pace for each series. There will likely be less discussion for TOS than there would be for DS9, you know? Not that that answers your question though - HA! We could always start out with say two-a-week and adjust as needed. I think another thing to decide is where the discussion will take place. Should we start episode threads or keep it confined to ...

here's my opinion of the 3rd and 4th books (the Times to Sow and Harvest, I think?): Meh. More to the "bleh" side of "meh", actually. Exactly, Cleo . I was rereading some of my old posts, and I realized it took me a year to finish book 4, when I sped through Warpath in one afternoon. I don't think I even want to finish the other ones in that series now. Waiting until April '07? I'll ...

Wasn't this the time when women's lib started to take effect? Make itself heard, yes. Take effect? No, not yet. And even when TNG started in the late 80s, those stereotypes were still there. Crusher and Troi were in nurturting professions and had nurturing personalities. And Tasha was so obviously not-nurturing that she became almost a caricature of the non-nurturing woman. Deep down she ...
