I would imagine it's simply the winter holidays break that all of the other shows are preparing to take. Greys started its season two weeks earlier than
Private Practice this year, so my guess is they set it up this way to give Private Practice a spot for its 2-hour winter finale. You could see that this break was coming in the 11/19 episode-- they went all the way through New Years. It'll be ...
