I own a timeshare in Myrtle Beach and love the area, but in my opinion stay away from developers who are going to change what you own without your input...isn't that a bit unpredictable? Why buy something that can morph into something else by the developers decision to do so.. Stick with a deeded property-that hasn't announced change of management companies you can also get points that are deeded.

You can get a no-frills professional deed transfer for about $100 - it would be unusual for a deeded TS to charge a resort transfer fee of $250-$300, but I know the RTU resorts in Mexico have high transfer fees.

Pay to change to Float??

I have decided not to purchase the float. I will try and do the trade thing...I guess I am stuck with Westgate. Maybe I will be able to trade within Orlando with Redweek. I do not have any desire to go anywhere but Orlando. Who knows what the future brings though. Thanks everyone for "Talking some Sense" into me....

Ummm if this is street justice for someone with a customer service complaint at a hair salon. I wonder what kind of street justice you get for defrauding folks out of tens of thousands of dollars? In my opinion, creeps like this deserve everything they've got coming to them.

I noticed that Marriott TS sell for more than a dollar twenty five (though not by much.) If you had to choose between Marriott or Wyndham programs, which one would you prefer? What are the main differences?

You have to own a RCI affiliated resort. Some resorts are both II and RCI, but Westgate is not. You can always RENT DVC from Disney or from a DVC owner esp since you saved $2,000 by not upgrading with Westgate. Good luck in all the new research on various independant exchange companies and your options. There are TS near Disneyland in CA and II timeshares near DLP (Disney Land Paris), too.

Marilyn, My prayers are with you and your husband. My buddy passed away from lung cancer 6 months ago. She was only 39. she was diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer 3 years ago and it already spreaded into spine and brain. But she could live a little over 3 years since then with new medicine & chemo, and the first 2 years was happy and almost healthy. She was not a smoker. I am so sorry for the bad news, but hope you will have good news for...

It is safe as long as you use a reliable closing company. The closing company will verify that the fees have been paid and there is no mortgage on the timeshare.
One reason most non-ebay sellers don't list a closing company is because we let the buyer decide who will perform the closing. Ebay sellers determine the closing agent because they make a profit off the closing as well.

Hi and Wecome to TUG!
If you are within the rescission period you should rescind immediately!
The rescission period for Florida is 10 days.
Westgate is NOT a good company to do business with and yes, you can buy a TS for pennies on the dollar on the resale market. Look at these timeshares on ebay for 1ยข.

These days I imagine an offer of any amount would be welcomed by most sellers. If you see something you like, offer what you can pay, and if your offer isn't accepted move on to the next one.
