I guess I have the odd toddler. Shelby doesn't mind me rinsing her hair. I don't know if it is because we used to (and still do) take her in the shower with us, instead of baths all the time. She got used to the water on her back, and then in her hair. Now she will crawl under the running water in the shower. She does NOT like to be laid down in the tub to get her hair rinsed, though. She doesn't mind me pouring water on her...

Mommy Brag Monday!

We've been working on this for a few weeks, but last night I asked her if she could bring me her shoes. She went into the dining room and came back with a matching pair of shoes!! I was so happy. Also, she has started to recognize pictures of babies and pointing to them and saying "baby".

1. It's so nice to come to a new, clean building for work. It's so refreshing. 2. I *think* I figured out how to log out of the phone on my desk so I don't have to take calls until the first shift leaves.

A month or so ago, Emily started the "why" stage. Every answer ends with a why . . . why . . . why . . . why . . . on and on and on. Couple that with the fact that she repeats everything I say, and you can see my frustration. Em: Where are we going? Mom: Home Em: Home? Why? Mom: Because that's where we live. Em: Where we live? Why? Mom: Because we needed a place to live. Em: Need a place to live? Why? Mom: Because we...

Bath time horrors

Liz hates it when I pour water on her head. However, she'll pour water on her own head with no problem! So I just tell her to pour a bowl of water on her head to rinse. I also used to bribe her: "Hey Lizard, if you let me rinse your hair, I'll give you a bowl of cold water to play with!" (for some odd reason, she loves cold water)

We haven't gotten here yet but, I know it's coming. Katie went through this stage too. With Logan, it's "Huh?".

I would not put her in a bunk bed until she can safely crawl up and down
without help.

Even the daycare doesn't classify Melanie as a toddler yet, which I think is a little ridiculous.

Don't think of it as a formal time-out, but you should be able to keep yourself from getting hit. If DS hit me (which is a normal baby thing at that age) from frustration/anger/etc. he was immediately placed on the floor as I yelled "OW! that hurts mommy!!!" I would turn my back to him & address my 'pain' so to speak taking a deep breath & counting for a few seconds. Usually he would start to ...

Melanie will not sit down and she WILL NOT let me wash her hair without a fight. I don't know what to do. I just make her deal. It's gotta get done.

Sam and I were walking through Target, and we passed a package of ABC foamies. The letter ABC were on the package and he called them out. He's learned a good handful of letters that he can identify by sight, so when he's looking at books or packages or Mommy's shirt, he points to letters and says them. I wore my UGA School of Law shirt yesterday, and he pointed to each of the U, S, C, O, and ...

Do you get a plastic ball ornament? And what kind of white paint - acrylic? I am an idiot about these things...!
However, I will make a deal with you: if you try it with Shelby, I'll try it with Sam. We can create a mess together, and then remember why we weren't cut out to be SAHM
Just give me some pointers on exactly what kind of paint will stick to a ball ornament, and I am in!

Isabella isn't really into eating meat so I need to find other ways to give her protein... my SIL suggested peanut butter. She said she gave it to my niece when she was 1, but for some reason I thought it was 2...?

Keira makes me nuts too.. actually all of my kids make me nuts.. although admittedly I don't have all that far to go to get there. Keira naps.. occasionally. Usually she wants to nap on the days that she can't.. the days that we babysit my friend's 2 kids and she won't sleep anywhere but in her bed. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.. but sometimes her bed just isn't available.
