Weatherby break-actions are now made by Fausti Stefano. Their new autos are made in Turkey. WRT Italian shotguns, Perazzi makes nice guns. I like my Berettas.

Try shooting all of the different types and models and see, as mentioned above, which one "feels" right to you. You might try a gun club to borrow/rent these and determine which one fits. As to accessories, I have a pump in a closet - it wears a side saddle, nothing more. Too many things throw off the balance and swing dynamics and offer chances for Mr. Murphy to rear his ugly head at the wrong moment

Shotguns can't tell the difference in night and day. Only shooters can. The answer is to become a night-functional shooter, and the best way to do that is to get some low-light training. As always, there are no hardware solutions to software problems... but a white light source mounted on the shotgun can help, if the shooter knows how to run it properly. lpl

Never shoulder a shotgun unless you are in mortal danger, rock salt and beanbags are worse than useless, if the BG is armed he will surely be compelled to shoot you, if he is not, you will be sued "my client was grievously wounded by a 12 ga beanbag and will never be able to lead a normal life again." Slugs are if you dont have a neighbor within 1/2 mile, all else is buckshot. If you ARE in mortal danger use #4 buckshot in an...

should I just keep the factory sights or should I get like an EOtech? Also, where are good, convenient places to hide it for quick, simple access? Sorry for the overload of questions, I just want to get it right... "A smart man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others."

Pistol grip shotguns are best used in video games and movies. Shotguns with stock are best used for real world purposes. rc

I'm probably not the best person to ask, not being a big Ithaca fan. There is nothing wrong with them, just not my thing. I'm right handed, and I really don't like loading through the magazine. I had three BPSs, and I still don't like it. I like throwing a shell in that open ejection port after I shoot an 870 empty. Plus I like heavy 3" loads, and being light, Ithacas tend to bite a bit. But, I do think the first...

Winchester Model 12 info

I have a mint example of the model 12 riot gun, they were beautiful guns, craftsmanship we will not see again, because we can't afford it. Even the riot guns got beautiful wood, which today we would have to pay extra for. They did not work easilt like a Mossberg, but gave one a bank vault like feel in the action, kind of like driving an older quality Mercedes. __________________ The Islamic terrorist express; go directly to Allah, do not...

Quote: I mean is there any advantage or disadvantage to the benelli compared to the 870 or 500? Well Benelli makes a fine gun and the Super Nova is no exception. The only disadvantages I see is that there is no factory option for an extended magazine tube and price. There are aftermarket mag tubes though if you really think you need one. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...334&t=11082005 The price of the Super Nova is in the same...

DK,
It always helps a lot to post SKU or catalog numbers when discussing shotgun loads. They're usually printed on the end flap of the box in small letters/numbers. For instance, my usual 00 load right now is Federal LE127-00, which is a standard velocity law enforcement 2 3/4" 9 pellet load (1325 fps) with the FliteControl wad.
Having that number makes it a lot easier to ...

Maybe a clamp on the muzzle to which a tritium sight can be fitted and which can be removed for hunting or shotgun games?
One response will probably be that you don't need sights, just point as a shotgun blast will cover a whole room. Don't listen to that nonsense! At the distance across an average room, the spread of a hunting shotgun will be around 3 inches - better than a single bullet,...

I took a 8-point buck with a 20ga rifled slug two years ago. The slug entered and exited the chest, shredded its lungs and it ran about 50 yards before dropping dead. I was using a Mossberg bolt action but I found it liked heavy, slower 2 3/4 shells better than high velocity or tru-ball.

Buy a used 870 or Mossberg and shoot it some. Both are good guns that work, and are available cheap because there are so many of them. After you have shot a while you will form your own opinions about what you like and dislike. As long as you take reasonable care of it, you should get every dime back when you decide what you want long term and trade it off. If you decide to keep it it will ...

Shot placement is key, but after that, 9mm.
Birdshot carries very little energy in each pellet. Even heavy pheasant load doesn't penetrate very much.
A birdshot wound is nasty, like road rash is nasty. 9mm penetrates over a foot.

squirrel hunting choke
I went squirrel hunting yesterday with a shotgun. My Dad's 12 Ga mossberg 500a. Saw a gray up in a tree. When I fired, the spread hit the squirrel, but it also broke a tree branch a good 3 feet away. Would a choke help to narrow the sprad? If so what kind? Using remington field 6 shot.

I'm not familiar with the Tri-star, but I know the Stoeger and the Baikal well. The Baikal has a terrible history with QC. Some are OK, many have problems. The Stoeger's fit and finish is "utilitarian" at best.
IMO, you would be far better off with a pump until you can afford to spend somewhere in the teens to get a good double.

Sure, copied straight from the competition subforum sticky .
Skeet a formalized shotgun contest. Shooters fire a total of 25 rounds from 8 different locations arranged around a semi-circle (well, okay -- technically there are 7 positions around the semi-circle, and an 8th one which is halfway across the semi-circle between stations 1 & 7). Each location is called a "stand" or a "station."...

I dont want a stoeger or a cheaper gun , however I think 700.00-800.00 dollars would be about the max .
You're pretty much SOL, then.
Franchi only makes one O/U model, the Renaissance. I don't see a youth modellisted, and the design is particularly unsuitable for shortening due to the recoil pad design. It's a lightweight gun, and it ...

Changing the pitch of the stock is generally how you change the POI.
A straigher stock will pattern higher.
Any chance you were just getting down on the stock harder then you normally would when bringing the gun up and shooting at a bird?
In otherwords, trying to sight down the barrel like a rifle?
And also holding it down harder then you normally would so it can't kick up and ...
