I could swap you a nice Lyman .36 Navy, with silvered square back trigger guard, steel frame. some very light surface rust and missing the front sight.said to be Billy The Kid's back up revolver...[I just said it,but I didn't say it was TRUE!]...

Good post, Wildfire. I don't mean about the Encore. I mean about the range. I do shoot in-lines (.45 caliber) and have for years. I also use Remington 209's. I'm scoped up good with either a big Zeiss or a Shepherd, just depending on which rifle I might reach for. I fire 110 grains of Triple Seven 3fff. I'vd got several different types of sabot's around here but I really lean toward Cabela's Extended Range. I have...

$200? They've probably been regularly getting thrown out in the trash and have been put out at the curb to be collected along with all of the other household rubbish for many years now. Many of them are at the local dumps where they were buried underground long ago, or were smelted into manhole covers!

Lead poisoning
Published (2009-11-30 10:07:00)
Question: "What 'lead fumes' do you get from shooting?" Answers (I think): "Lead from shooting comes from the lead styphanate(?) in the priming compound that ends up in the air during indoor shooting plus lead spatter from the backstop." "Lead from shooting comes from range cleanup, dust particles in the air get inhaled....Sweeping indoor ranges produce lead dust,.." Do you have...

I don't know about the screws, I bought a fairly new Pietta 1851 that had screws buggered up about that bad. Some people just don't understand that you need the proper screwdriver to fit a certain screw. One more "what it's not" observation. That case looks awfully new for a 150+ year old gun.

How to make gun grips?

The one piece grips for the Colts are actually three pieces of wood, the two outside panel and a center spacer. A band saw makes cutting easier but a coping saw well get it done. A plainer if your working with raw logs so you can get a flat surface. Some wood rasps (files) and lots of sandpaper. Those 1X42 inch belt sanders take a lot of the hand work out fitting. This link well help. http://www.chipengelmann.com/Grips/MakingGrips.html Quote:...

In the morning I sat in a tree stand and pretended I was hunting deer. After dinner I assembled a Stag AR lower after doing the 15 min trigger job. Now that complete uppers are becoming available I plan too pick one up, hopefully at a good price to finish my first AR build.

What size are you picture files (kilobytes, KB)? Also, what format is your picture file? if you put your mouse over the file, and right-click, you will get file format and file size info. Are you trying to upload your pic from a "quick reply", or from a "Post Reply" window?

Just the lock alone must be worth $20. Well at least the rusty barrel won't hurt it's accuracy much... and it will be more fun than shooting fish in a barrel!

I have both. The cylinders are not interchangeable. The cylinder locking notches are located differently, on the Freedoms Arms black powder mini revolver, it's near the center of the cylinder, and on the North American Arms Companion it's located towards the rear of the cylinder.

Hey there; I shoot an Encore and so does my son. Mine is not the pro Hunter. 1. Get a block of wood. 2. Remove everything that isn't a grip. Seriously, many normal woodworking tools and skills are all that are necessary. Start out with perfectly matched pieces with at least two square edges. Fit them to the frame first, the mark and trim the frame outlines. Shape as required. Finish with Tru-Oil. Since a real Walker should bring bids in at least high five figures, I think a $2000 bid says something. There are a lot of things wrong, like the barrel to frame fit, plus handstamped "company" markings. It may be an old fake, or an aged modern repro, but I think I can safely say it was not made by Sam. The seller uses the old "I don't know anything about it" routine to avoid being ...

I have a T/C New Englander 12 Ga. I bought a 54 cal barrel for it, and that's what I've been wringing out first. After I get a satisfactory load worked up for the 54, I'll drop in the 12 ga barrel and have the wife throw some skeet with that orange plastic thrower thing. A New Englander 12 ga w/ cylinder bore is not expensive, and still comes up on gunbrok3r, and in parts on ...

Before I say anything else, I encourage you to treasure your wife above all else! What a gem she is! The first question we need answered is, do you want a shooter or a non-shooter? Secondly, what is your level of muzzle loading experience? Thirdly, to what purpose will it be put? Do you want a functional wall hanger, a target pistol, a plinker, or a hunting pistol? ...

Contact the Ruger factory and ask if any Old Army revolvers are still available. Last I knew they were still building a few, although the model had been discontinued. If the parts are available they might build you a revolver, although don't expect it to be cheap. The parts most likely to break in Italian copies of 19th century revolvers are springs - in particular the hand and cylinder ...
