PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem said golf will survive no matter how long Tiger Woods stays away to sort out his personal life, and that a portrait of "gloom and doom" is misleading. In the midst of a shocking sex scandal, Woods is taking an indefinite leave from competition to try to save his marriage, leaving the sport without its biggest star as it tries to cope with a downturn in the economy....

Sounds like good advice. Who knows if the young man will accept that advice.

John Daly

He actually has tremendous skills and talent, it is just that he rarely took them seriously. If he had Wood's work ethic early in his career, he'd have been another Palmer/Nicklaus. Daly was one of the very, very few that could outdrive Tiger Woods in distance. Wow, he ca really cream the ball.

All the gossipy sensationalism aside, this really is a sad tale. Tiger Woods had it all and he blew it, big time. Even sadder is the fact that Tiger Woods had gained achievement that few black athletes accomplish. He had breathed the rarified air reserved for iconic men like Jackie Robinson, Mohamed Ali, Michael Jordon, Wilt Chamberlin, Hank Aaron, to name but a few. Men who not only stood out in their sport, but often set the standard of...

Japan's teen golf star warned
Published (2009-12-16 02:33:53)
Japanese teen golf star Ryo Ishikawa, the country's youngest-ever top earner, has been advised by senior players not to follow the example of scandal-hit Tiger Woods. Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki, who holds the Japan Tour record of 94 wins, played a round with Ishikawa Monday in a celebrity charity tournament in Chiba, outside Tokyo, as Woods' affairs continued to dominate world news. "He (Ishikawa) is the top...

Many of the other players will be happy to see Tiger take off a year or
two. Their winnings will be that much larger.

Mark Ingram Sr. has broken his public silence as his son's candidacy for the 2009 Heisman Trophy nears
its final hours.
The elder Ingram, who played 10 years in the NFL, is now in a correctional facility in Queens, N.Y., awaiting sentencing for skipping bail late last year on
charges of bank fraud and money laundering, for which he was originally sentenced to more than seven...

so I take it Texas won the game last night?
I was half-azzed watching it last night at the bar, seemed to be a pretty boring game, I left before it was over.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Earlier this week, using words that were virtually identical, a PGA Tour tournament director and a prominent player, separated by a
thousand miles, sounded like they were singing in two-part harmony.
Give or take a word, the timbre, tone and sameness of their comments was striking.
"He's hurting all of us right now," they said. "The whole sport of golf has ...

If John ever wants to regain his golf skills he needs to return to Memphis. At his best he practiced at Cherokee CC. Perfect course for JD not too long but
very narrow with tree lined fairways. Forced him to make sure he hit is straight rather than long.

This definitely mars his reputation. These athletes seem to think that nobody is ever going to figure them out.
