Today CBO's Assistant Director for Microeconomic Studies, Joseph Kile, testified before the House Agriculture Committee's Subcommittee on Conservation, Credit, Energy, and Research on the use of agricultural offsets as part of a cap-and-trade program for reducing greenhouse gases. Discussions about reducing greenhouse gases often focus on limiting the use of fossil fuels to generate electricity or power cars and trucks, yet a...

Napoleon wasn't a gifted realtor In 1803, Bonaparte acquired the Louisiana territory - roughly half of the land that became the US - after France made a treaty with Spain. Mike: Heard something yesterday that gave pause for thought. What we have going today is the 21st century version of slavery. The only difference today versus the past is that the slaves are located overseas, not here. Workers in Vietnam, Laos, Bangledash, etc make at best the equivelant of $.70-$2.00 per day making products for a multitude of International firms. In the past slaves were involved in agriculture. Today it's in...

WALD WASHINGTON - The Environmental Protection Agency said Monday that it would probably increase the amount of ethanol that gasoline retailers could blend into ordinary fuel, to 15 percent, if tests established that the blend would not damage cars. The maximum ethanol blend is now 10 percent, except for cars specially equipped to handle higher...

Mike, didn't Dubai put a lot of money into Las Vegas in the last 2-3 years. It seems I read an article that they built some major casinos/hotels.

The Christmas consumer spending data which comes out in the new year will show how well the economy is doing.
Unemployment fugures alone does not show the real health of the economy. I am expecting a poor result for the last quarter for this year in terms of consumer
spending. Because I feel a lot of people fear that they may lose their job in the beginning of 2010 and therefore limit their ...

Since NBC still generates a lot of cash it will be interesting to see what actually happens. The movie and cable property's are probably fairly safe from
big changes. The NBC network will be another story. Ratings and cash have been declining, something has to happen. My guess is changes in the news side first.
That is where a change to a Fox News model may be in the future. Changing the nightly ...

The issue here is a small targeted jobs bill may make a lot of sense. A political jobs bill is a waste of taxpayers money and will be simply a payoff to unions
before the next election.
Now is the time to watch you wallets.

This is absolute nonsense. The science of ethanol is just a murky as the global warning data. Neither side can replicate the others studies. No one can tell
what is try so policy changes are just dart throws.

Part of the explanation of a strong Wall Street and a weak real economy. Company's have found out how to make money with a minimum number of employees. The
reason the government has made employing people very expensive and employing machines both here and overseas very cheap.

I am not too surprised. When I was in Singapore I was told how Dubai became
arrogant and egoistic about how they Governed their investment enterprises
etc with all their quick success... that they no longer listened to the one
that taught them everything they knew... which was Singapore. Maybe if they
had listened a little more this could of been prevented.

The dollar decline will take longer than most people think. The Central Banks around the world will fight the dollar decline because of domestic issues. The
Central Banks of the world can not stop the dollar decline only delay the process. The delay will only make the adjustment process here more difficult.

The political class is flat crazy. Democrats theology is that government creates jobs and the Republican theology believes the fianacial sector will take care
of job creation. Both are nuts.
