Microsoft is mostly in the software biz whereas apple is both hardware and software. Apple has very few competitors for their hardware.

I also have a HP nx9400 with 2GB running XP pro, its much faster after running CCleaner but is looking to upgrade my memory too. Its still taking a loooonnnng time to boot.

By the way, I now own a real Mac after using a Hackintosh for about a year (must pay up if I like something). In fact I use all 3 O/S, (linux is regulated to PS3 though). But lets be objective in our assessment, Macs are good but being good and capturing the title from M$ are two different things. I just don't see it happening within the next 5 years.

any suggestions on where I can learn QBPro? Not as a bookkeeper, so I am not interested in a 12 week college program... just enough to get it up and running with all of the stuff my accountant will need to see come tax time.

Depending on your price range, Samsung is highly rated. Sharp's mid-low range models stack up well. You could go cheap and get a no name brand, just be prepared to replace it sooner.

And both M$ and Mac use/copy stuff from Linux all the time. Been happening for years. First time I played on a Mac it reminded me of a Fedora distro used years ago...

When was the last time you defrag'd the HD? If the drives is full of fragmentation it can slow things down quite a bit.

what are you using to download torrents? I don't think there's a way around Rogers throttling, but there is for Bell.
