Anoyone have a clogged DPF yet? Why are you asking and why do you want to do this? DPFs, if maintained properly, last long time.

Other than my wife thinking I'm a total tool while she was driving, it was interesting to watch some parameters while shuffling off to another state for Thanksgiving. I did miss the regen event though. The thread on exhaust removal got me to thinking, there are a lot of sensors you would have to emulate. Pre and post dpf, differential pressure, soot load, etc. You can almost watch the soot load climb. When you hit a hill on the highway,...

BRM Cam Failure
First I've seen of the BRMs having valve train issues. The car in question is an '06 w/ 100K miles; Castrol TXT and SLX its whole life w/ 10K mile OCI.
The worst of the wear is on the #3 exhaust lobe. All other lobes are worn as well, though not to the degree #3E is. They all have a distinct edge on the trailing face of the lobe. They are wearing from ...

One thing to check may be wiring issues between the door and the car where
they apparently are prone to wear.

No problem, it was just a waste of a few bucks worth of additive. The
engine will run fine.

same thing happened to me. It looked fairly complicated to take apart as
well since its wrapped in that odd tape along with other hoses and wires.
Dealer wanted $18 just for the broken part, so I went to autozone and
bought $2.00 piece of hose and just connected the broken pieces together
with some glue to keep it from leaking. Works perfectly.

Can someone tell me what tool is needed to remove the trunk latch from a 06 Jetta? The trunk will not close correctly and non of the tools we have will work on the bolts holding the latch in place.
Thanks!

Econ light not lit, temp knob as high as it goes, fan on low......and it's not exactly "instant" ...but mine is blowing warmish air in about 45 seconds, many minutes before the temp guage even budges....that's if the 2005's had it...I'm not sure'

I never keep a car for more than a few years anyway so I'll never make it that far to care I get bored very easily and have bought a new car every two years (sometimes sooner) for the last 22 years.

I suggest you get legal advice, but initially you need to tell the stealer that he is full of crap. If you don't get satisfaction then get on to VWoA and start making a fuss. Don't let these muppets get away with it, they are taking the mickey out of you. Have a read of the dealer horror story in this sub forum...

The raised idle is normally indicative of two things: cold-start or regen. Oh and FYI, if your TDI normally idles at 8000 RPM, you're in trouble It's funny you mention a lumpy idle because I just mentioned this to my dealer yesterday. On two occasions I have noted a very lumpy idle that actually causes the car to shake, akin to what you might experience in a "hot rod" with a wild cam. It ...

Nope & wow...!
Are you sure that you got the bottom stick/seal all the way in the whole when you put that filter in? It looks like when you tightened the cap down it crushed the filter some because it was not and could not got as far down as it should normally...? Or maybe the pic just looks like that?
Can you put it side to side with another new filter for comparison?

My 06 TDI now has 57K miles on it. After the first 30-35K miles, the rear pads wore down to the metal and ruined the rotors. Dealer installed new rotors and rear pads and told me the fronts still had plenty of life left in them. By the way this was TOTALLY my fault and not covered under warranty for a brand new car!! Note that from day one, the brake dust in the rear was always way heavier than...
