Incandescent Soulstoke Ruling
Published (2008-11-27 22:04:00)
"get +1/+1" is different than receiving a +1/+1 counter. there is no counter involved. it's a static ability. it just continues to be true while the permanent with the static ability is in play. so your creatures won't be effected by, say, kulrath knight 's static ability. bramblewood paragon does not have a static ability that boosts P/T. it has an ability that gives +1/+1 counters when other things come into...

Oooooh. I see. That's interesting. Thanks! And what about my other question about Painter's Servant and Pithing Needle?

Questions about Stifle?
Published (2008-11-27 16:22:00)
1) You just counter the one trigger from that one cycle. If you Cancel a Llanowar Elves you can still play other Llanowar Elves, this is no different. 2) You have to Stifle it after he discards. To play the ability, he has to pay all the costs (everything in front of the colon) so you can't counter the ability until he has discarded something and thus played the ability. And no, once again, it does nothing against any other abilities, why...

Question about double strike
Published (2008-11-28 14:09:00)
If it was a 2/2 Double Strike vs a 2/2 vanilla, does the double-strike creature still assign regular combat damage even if it killed the creature with first strike damage? Like let's say that 2/2 double strike had lifelink but the creature blocking it was 2/2 vanilla and died with first strike damage. Do I still get 4 life from my double strike?

Tidehollow Sculler + Nantuko...
Published (2008-11-28 08:59:00)
Tide works great against RDW... they usually fear Magma spraying it when it will cost them a permanent card which will end up getting you a magma spray. It's also related to Demigod?! :] Remember kids if they don't let his ability resolve and play a counter spell then the Demigods ability will go on the stack after getting Demigod right back. This was best displayed when I watched a Fae match up my friend was in. He attempted to cast...

Questions about Stifle?
Published (2008-11-27 16:03:00)
1) If my opponent has an Astral Slide in play, and he is about to cycle a card (say renewed faith), and I stifle Astral Slide's triggered ability. Does this mean that my opponent can't use Astral Slide's ability anymore whenever he cycles until the end of turn? Or does it mean he can't use that Astral Slide's ability anymore ever during that game? Basically making it a dead enchantment? Or does it just mean he...

Two questions
Published (2008-11-27 01:16:00)
First of all, It will be destroyed by Wrath of God. The acronym for Protection is DEBT: Damage, Enchant/Equip(/Fortification), Blocking, and Targetting. If a spell or ability doesn't do any of those things, then it's fair game. So, as for your other example, Light from Within will still boost a Stillmoon Cavalier, but, Suture Spirit wont be able to target it. As to your second post, Same thing happens. If a creatures toughness is at...

regardless of how the effects stack up, as soon as you sacrifice the Sculler and it leaves play, your opponent would get the card back. The Tidehollow Sculler technically leaves play as soon as it is sacrificed, so the card would come back almost immediately.

Please confirm / disprove the validity of the following sequence of plays. Say I have Incandescent Soulstoke, Smokebraider and 2 untapped mountains out in play. I tap Smokebraider to play another Incandescent Soulstoke from hand (via the effect of the first Soulstoke.) I then use the 2nd Soulstoke's effect to tap my two mountains, and play Nova Chaser, championing the 2nd Soulstoke. At...

Tunnel Vision . Does the person playing Tunnel Vision have to name the card as part of playing the spell? Or does that person name the card as part of the resolution of Tunnel Vision?

I have a question about protection. Say I have Stillmoon Cavalier out. I know it wouldn't be affected if someone played Wrath of God or something. However, is it affected by passive or activated abilities (like Light from Within or Suture Spirit, respectively)? The other is about cards like Pithing Needle and Painter's Servant. Say I play Painter's Servant and choose black. Would ...

Does priority pass to me at the end of my opponents draw step? I am testing a new deck and this came up. Makeshift mannequin on tidehollow sculler in my 'yard. Can I wait till he draws his card and at the end of his draw step fire sculler in there to grab it before he has a chance to play it on his main phase? Help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone, While I understand that blinking a Springjack Shepherd with a Turn to Mist produces tokens, I was wondering whether or not I would get the tokens if I were to take control of Shepherd (from my opponent until end of turn) and blink it would I get the tokens or would my opponent. Thanks.

So, what are the rules for special needs at tournaments? For example, a friend of mine recently caught an infection.. I'm not kidding here, they caught an infect that makes them cry with very little cause. It's a treatable, temporary (7-14 days) physical symptom of a disease, and they really aren't actually upset, they just cry whenever for whatever reason. :/ It just got me thinking, is all...

1) If I have a wasteland in play along with a tundra in play, and my opponent plays a wasteland to target my tundra, can I in response target his wasteland w/ my wasteland to avoid having the tundra being destroyed? Or does the tundra still get destroyed either way? 2) If my opponent has a fetchland such as Polluted Delta in play, and I have a wasteland in play, if he activates the fetch ...
