rear shocks.

No you don't have to support anything in the rear, just losen the shock bolts, raise the car off the ground, take the shock off and then replace it. Tighten the lower shock bolt to the LCA first, then lower the car onto the shock so it goes up into the trunk and then bolt it down with full weight on the car. When you reinstall the shock, then you do need a jack under the LCA to push it into the trunk shock hole.

Lower TCA ball joint removal...

So the strut rod to LCA bushings aren't supplied with the LCA? I had those replaced on my car about 3yrs ago (40k miles) so I guess it would be a good idea to change them as it will all be apart.

Poly Bushings?
Published (2009-12-11 17:54:00)
I think I am going to have an auto shop do the work for me after all. I can save a bit of money ordering parts myself. Since I am not going to go poly afterall, it will be a lot cheaper because I really only need the Lower right control arm, the swaybar endlinks, rack and pinion bushings, and strut rod bushings. If my math is right, and the mechanics quote prices are final prices, then I should be looking at around $1000-1200, only ??? is the...

No problem. You access them from Inside the trunk, just pull the carpet back.

Getting really low and alignment...

Thanks, I am having the camber problem because I cut so much off the stock super coupe springs. I installed the suspension so that it was basicly still in a lincoln mark 8 then cut the springs from there to get the desired ride height

Don't forget to check those front sub fame bolts. We are finding a whole lot of 91-97 TBirds & Cougars with these bolts loose. I can almost guarantee that if they have never been retorqued from the factory, they are loose and clunking. Most often when you hit the brakes and/or cornering. ALL of these cars should be checked for these bolts coming loose.

You can buy aftermarket springs, I thought Napa was a source.
I might be getting a set of Stock LX springs after This Thursday when I install a set of lowering springs into a TBird.
You going to put them in yourself ???

Any suspension parts from Moog, Motorcraft or TRW are top quality and can't
be beat. RockAuto consistenly has the best prices on parts in my
experiences, especially with the 5% discount.

I have (I think) the same problem with my 300zx. On that car, the rear
camber adjustment is very limited as the arm is fixed to the subframe. I
need to find out how far the camber is out (my tires lean inwards at the
top) so I can order a template from z31parts.com to fix the camber I got
with my super stiff lowering springs. I cant recall if you elongate the
hole or just drill another, but I am ...

AFAIK if you make longer upper arm, closer to paralel arms setup, the camber will be less but base ( distance between tracks/wheels) change more on turn, and traction of outside wheel will be worse; and this is reason the paralels are not used from '60s or so. And you add some weight on arm, I guess, it always worsen traction and comfort a bit.
Other hand, short/long arms, as standard MN12, ...

Are you trying to put them on one at a time? You should take both of them off at the same time, and install both of the new shorter ones at the same time.
