replacement HVAC face?
Published (2009-11-29 01:05:00)
My car has the standard HVAC controls--NOT the semi-auto...the red and blue on the center dial is somewhat faded (the red is pink) Is there any way to purchase a replacement face that looks completely stock? I think I have seen a white face, but I do not want that thanks!!

i'm not entirely sure there's anything like that as a sufficient replacement for our application. have you taken your door panel off? our doors aren't the conventional type that "pop" into the metal door frame. they slide down and into the frame. i've personally never seen another vehicle with this type of arrangement.

Cool I didnt know they had repair kits for the "clips" which I would say are more like "fingers." It seems like you could rivet your own material to whats left also if a kit wasnt available nearby. 92+ crown vics use these same fingers on their door panels. Good luck! -Rob

my clips don't look like that, they are plastic tabs, very oddly shaped, they sort of hook in, and then slide down. Only the small tips of them have broken off, i can still slide the big fat part of the body into the slot, but it makes it hard as hell to hold the door in place without the little tabs on the end. I've looked at the junkyard, most of the door panels are broken as well. not to mention it's fragile plastic,...

Could try ford parts counter, there might be one or two left in stock. Other than that your best bet is a junkyard. From what I've found the faded red is more of a quality control issue during printing than a sun fading issue, they look faded when their new sometimes.

Get under the driver's side dashboard and follow the steering column down, and you will see a U-joint with a bolt going through it. Remove the bolt and slide the bottom part out of the joint, and that is it. __________________ 91 Cougar LS 393, ported holley systemax 2 heads, typhoon intake, 1 3/4 longtube headers, 70mm halfshafted throttle body, ...

The overdrive switch on the shifter handle? There's a white plastic "slider" if you will that slips up inside with wires coming off it. It's supposed to slide out if you remove the shifter handle and it can be reinstalled in the same way it comes out.

A few things: First the seats fronts and rear will fit. I think you will have to change the "v" bar in the rear seat. I recently change mine in my 91 when i put sc seats in the back. The door cover panels will fit perfectly with the 94-97 dash because all of it is molded differnet from 89-93 cars. Again i put 94-97 door panels in mine and they look fine but a little tight when i close the ...

I think it looks cool with the radio back in the middle spot. I hadn't ever heard of a scangauge, but after some searching it looks like it will give estimated MPG and trip distance and stuff like that. Keep up the good work! I just noticed you have the green interior too! I always thought that was cool. -Rob
