Yea You're in the right area, leave the bottom 1-2 spring out and replace the top 1-2 spring with the one he sent you.
You'll need
snap ring plyers to remove the cover plate and access the 1-2 accumulator.

the
oring is only $2.70 or something like that from ford just buy a new pan
gasket and oring and change them both while your down their. Probably
wouldn't hurt to change some trans fluid and the internal filter while your
at it either, your looking about about $28 in parts and two hours or so
worth of time.....plus fluid.

My first guess would be due to the earlier date, I think they made the
Mercon V recommendation later.....but I'll let someone that is more in the
know answer for sure.
