he's sending you red kisses My comment regarding loss and profit has again been taking in an explicit narrow minded way by Mr J. Mr J, you are surely not averse to profit? In order to trade I have made gains and also losses along the way.All the money i invest is money I could afford to lose (although I'd rather not!); and moreover it gives me a completely new fresh insight into a different world, about as far removed from my working...

A loss is not a loss if you cash out, only to buy back in cheaper. I went out at 38.9p 38.8k and 35.5p 50k nusring a good loss from 44.1. If i get in at 32.5 I get 100k instead of 88.9k if i had got out at 43p well nearly 120k. Pays your money and takes your choice. You should never be scared to sell at a loss. I should have got out at 43p but believed it was good for high 40's. 7 days later....

Reuters survey on house prices
Published (2009-11-26 16:43:00)
House prices set to rise gradually Thu Nov 26, 2009 12:26pm GMT By Jonathan Cable LONDON (Reuters) - House prices have probably bottomed but will only creep higher over the next couple of years as more properties come on the market and the economy makes a plodding return to growth, a Reuters poll showed. Average house prices are seen ending this year 3.4 percent higher than where they started, but will rise just 1.8 percent next year and 2.2...

the market makers had so much stock from taking people to the cleaners the last few day - they thought they would make some money for the weekend... No news - just no reason for the drop the past few days...

Given the alternative of placing money on deposit at 3-4% if they only get to 50p again we would have done far better, but greed kicks in, we are all after 100%+ annual returns, which can only happen at the moment whilst the economy revives, once back to "normal" what ever that will be, annual returns of 10-20% will be more normal.

My isa have a magic figure that just wont be breached no matter what shares i manage to make good profits on. Think i will have to stick a pair of american tan over my head and rob the chippy to make a crust.
PS I would be looking to keep 30% of your portfolio in cash in order to average down/pick some bargains on your watchlist.

I've sold a portion of my DSGI, and have a big fat order (for me) in on TW at 34.45 to top up. This is a bargain if you have the time to wait.

For what it's worth.
My business is property and I have found it started to pick up months ago. I also find houses are selling faster if insentives are offered to buyers such as help with deposits and help finding the right mortgage deal (both of which I offer to my clients)
Things are looking up for the houses market.

But when did you buy your shares? Or do you mean you've recovered a lot of your loses?
There can't be many people who have made money on Blacks as the sp has been falling for five years.
But at least it the sp seems to have changed direction for you.
