I've been a little hesitate about posting here or elsewhere about advice on why this is happening. What i going on is this: During some games and not all, my display just shuts down or turns off, with the computer going into reboot, but the machine and all are still on, including hearing the game running in the background. So this is a much bigger problem than Firefox. Are you using a slipstreamed SP3 XP disc? Did you check for bad caps on the mb? http://www.badcaps.net/ It could be a bios issue, so you might as well give it a shot.

I have since taken off the CPU heatsink/fan, cleaned out the dust (there really wasn't that much), wiped off the thermal compound from both th CPU and the bottom of the heatsink/fan, applied new arctic silver ceramic-based thermal compound (is that OK?), and then put the heatsink/fan back on the CPU. I also reformatted the hard drive again, and shortly after I installed the OS, it started to restart randomly again. I changed the setting...

Hello all, I am using xp pro and a while back I disabled windows messenger by deleting the key from the registry. I want to use it now but I can't figure out how to put it back in the registry. Does anyone know how I can do this? Also another reason I disabled it in the past is because I thought and still am not sure if it's a security risk to have it enabled. Is It? Hope someone will ...

Not sure what the deal is, but Firefox keeps crashing on this system. It was also giving BSOD errors, and the screen was going black at times. I looked up the code on the BSOD error, and it said it was a bad video driver. So, I attempted to update it, but there was no update. I think my bro-in-law's PC has a bad motherboard. MSI K8M NEO-V Via K8M800. Power comes on -- CPU HSF spins up (now with 100% fewer dust bunnies!), PS fan spins up, top and side illuminated case fans blowing nicely. Front temperature readout shows ~76 degrees F. This just happened about ten minutes ago, and it seems to be charging and able to run off battery, so I'm not sure if there's a REAL problem yet, but still... I don't like seeing messages like that. I am unable to connect my PowerMac G5 to our router. MY HP laptop did with no problem. But my Mac desktop seems to complain about not having the right IP. But then when I fix the IP problem, it still won't connect to the web, even though the computer tells me I'm connected to the internet. Anyone have any ideas?

I am unable to open wmv files. They have always worked before. I have Windows Media Player that the files opened with and now they wont. I clicked a file then went to Windows Media Player and could see the video, but it wont do it automaticaly. I have checked my defaults and it looks right. Can any one help?
