friend of my father has a old winston cup, bowtie motor complete he wants under two grand for everything the only thing he wants is the carb, which i dont need. I think this is a odd fire motor, and i know pistons would have to be changed because of compression. What do we have to do, to our truck to make these work. not trying to make crazy power want as a dd. Thanks kevin

Garin, do you have datamster? If so, hook it up when it acts funny and see wht your knock sensor says. I had this code, replaced the knock sensor and haven't seen it since.

Ok. It came with metal gaskets but they are all rusty and not reusable. So I should be good with copper gasket sealer then?

Off-topic: how much power do those ZZ4's make? My Auto Tech instructor has one in his 99 Suburban. Nice Chevelle! A buddy of mine had a 66 Malibu that was close to the same color.

Low Compression on 3cyl
Published (2009-11-29 12:26:00)
I can't remember exactly which ones they were but it was like 1 on the left bank and 2 on the right bank. The heads look ok with no signs of any problems. I'll pull the heads apart and see what the valves look like.

Its been years now, but when I 1st got my truck and I did a complete tune-up on it. The cap and rotor were bad after a month running time or about 75 miles. The failure was in the cap where the coil wire plugs into. It was a Red Cap and rotor too.

For the cooler lines I took the cooler side and had them turned into a loop. Let me knwo if you need pics and I can take some for you. As far as the canister line goes, I just capped mine off at the tank and have never had any problems. Of course as Dave recommends there is absolutely nothing wrong with using some kind of breather.
