I use to do the surf and weather report on KONG radio in the early AM every day....... then started doing surf reports for Guy Hagi when he was doing early morning reports. I was "asked politely" to stop ... by a well known "local" in Ching Young Village one morning over breakfast BEFORE I did my report with Guy. no worry beef curry was my reply ... Kanaka Pete

The title pretty much says it all. I have two weeks to myself in April. If I can choose, I'd prefer to go right more often than left.... Where would you go? And why? El Salvador? Because of the endless rights? Bali? There's always something breaking? Mainland Mexico? Stay home and clean the garage? Somewhere else? I'm open to suggestions. -------------------- www.smoothglide.blogspot.com

someone just sent me the map of every surf spot on the island, i was never knew about that. was that furcat who put that together? wow what a bummer. oh well. they name names but the location/directions are sketchy on most spots. times change, guess i need to lighten up. kauai is magical but it sure is sad to see in changing so much.

I've been to El Salvador. I really liked it there. Good wave, the crowds aren't too bad, it very cheap with really good food. There is a lot of crime, but it's mostly limited to San Salvador and La Libertad. Unfortunately, Punta Rocas is in Libertad, but just go there during the day, avoid the cemetary and you should be OK. But the water is really polluted. The other breaks are great! All rights and no crime in the small beach...

el salvador might not be a bad call. i've never been. upside: short and cheaper flight than anywhere else. downside: crime/drugs on land can be dicey near the city of la libertad (?). surfdad has been; you may PM him. i thought i saw another thread on El Salvador recently. Ever been to Nias? It is a bitch to get to but if you want a premier right hander....look no further. Downside: long and more costly flight. You'll eat up a lot...

I suggest you email the Kandui owner Jordan directly who lives at the Resort. I'm fairly sure it's open all year to visitors, with good waves most of the time even in the supposed "off-season", and offers discounts for this time of year - info@mentawaiislands.co.id Also check the website for full details of the many breaks nearby that work on most wind and swell directions Kandui resort website --------------------...

I am going to stay at turtle bay on the north shore of oahu in a couple weeks. I got a great deal on the trip is the reason I am not going somewhere else. What I am wondering is. I am an OK surfer, and would like to get some waves while I am there, but I realize the entire surf world is there as well. Is there anywhere I can paddle out and not have to deal w/ 15 pros taking all the ...

Wondering if someone could give some advice on surf charters in the Maldives versus Mentawais. Only know a couple of people (friends of friends) who went to Mentawais, but no one I know has been to Maldives? Any thoughts which place is better? Less crowded? Difference in waves? Planning on going around Aug/Sept 09. If you have any specific recommendations I'd appreciate it. Thanks!...
