Went to the sports orthoped today after 3 days w/ no pain. Doc took xrays, says nothing is cracked and said he suspects if anything there could be some sort of herniation in the L's. I think he's bullshitting me tho, the look on his face makes me believe he really has no clue what the cause of the pain is, especially with the unusual symptoms - strain during flexion, twinge that resolves during extension. He wants me to take medrol...

Hey there - I had a pretty gnarly E/N/T infection and the pressure buildup in my left ear caused my eardrum to rupture (it happened while I was waiting forever in the urgent care waiting room...having blood and pus squirt out of your ear is a great way to skip the line, fyi). I'm still on day 4 or so of antibiotics, and the ear is still draining so the docs haven't been able to see how bad a tear it is. Here's the question:...

Earplugs for SURE! You get any water in there and the pain will be so intense you'll see God. I blew my eardrum waterskiing once. I waited about 10 days and was skiing again with waterproof earplugs. I also had blood and puss coming out of my ear but it was from a fractured skull. Be careful! -------------------- After you leave, you'll want to go back real bad. Then when you do, you'll remember why you left.

Long story short: Bad wipeout on Nov. 1st, sucked over the falls, landed directly on my ass on a shallow sandbar, on my right cheek. Had some some soreness on the right side of my sacrum/coccyx for a few days but nothing major. Five days after the wipeout I woke up with a twinge on the LEFT side of my lower back/ass. It's about an inch or two below the iliac crest and about two inches ...

Last year, suffered an AC Seperation and did some rotator cuff damage landing on my shoulder. 4 months out of the water and I have been surfing since the end of March. It has slowly improved over time and I was just getting back to the point where I could do everything, pain free. Took my bike out (that's how I fell and hurt it initially) and it felt fine the whole time. We hit some ...

Well, finally after 18 months, x-rays, 2 cortisone shots, and an MRI, my ortho came to the conclusion that my clavicle and shoulder bone are rubbing against each other. They shouldn't be, and this is what's causing my shoulder pain. Luckily, there's no soft tissue or ligament damage! There was a thread on this a while back. Anyway, Dec 2 it's shoulder arthroscopy (outpatient procedure) ...

I am now in my 50s and I have surfed consistently since I was five years old. For the last year and a half I have been experiencing pain in my left side rib cage. The pain seems to kind of migrate up and down the area where the rib cage ends and sweeps down towards your side. That whole area, starting up at the top by the solar plexus and down to the floating rib area on that one side ...

i have a "blister" on my ear drum - taking augmenton atibiotics and ear drops. It has been a full week and the pain and discomfort have not gone down much (although vicodin has helped). Is it best to wait it out and hope it heals up on its own or should i have the blister lanced and drained out? thanks for any help or advice...this is driving me crazy

Hi, While surfing today, my board whacked me in the back of the head while I was surfacing, and I'm pretty sure the fin hit me (the rails don't have any dents or anything) resulting in a 2 inch long laceration on my scalp behind my right ear, extending towards the middle of my head. It took 15 staples to close the gash. So here is my question: How long REALLY do I have to stay out ...
