Yep, lots of rigs in the sand. The other day I had a board, I had it's head up a couple of times but finally the jig pulled free. Lot's of junk in the water.

I remember drifting Ambrose lightship area in the late 50's, early 60's with Sheepshead Bay party boats. Heated rails, hell we had a coal stove down below and that was it. Toughed it out on deck. Nothing like rocking and rolling on the old 45' Pilot II in the dead of winter and filling up a sack of those delicious whiting. My family was far from wealthy and we ate whiting many nights during the weeks I caught them. Spig

I worked from 9:30 am until 12:30. My front walk and Jeep Wrangler by shovel to get out. Cleaned my In-laws place and their neighbor with FIL snow blower. Brought that back to my house and did my 3 vehicles spots plus 3 others and all the front walks for 6 houses. Hands, arms and shoulders are cooked.

Why would you want 200-300+++ fish? Friends, Neighbors etc..want them? But, yes I do remember Whiting fishing with my Dad when I was a kid off the Pt. Pleasant party boats. Great eating fish and every once in a while someone catches one but I have not seen one in a looooong time.

It's usually a 10oz sinker burried a few inches in the sand. Steady pressure usually get it out if you are fishing a strong enough set up.

Maybe 3"-4 " @ 12:00 PM. Snow is wet. Still snowing and windy. Streets in good shape. Lots of flooding in the usual places from the NE wind pushing the tide into the bay.

If you have IO optimum cablevision you can watch a bunch of shows for free. Go to free on demand- then choose sports - then choose fishing. They update them regularly and you can fast fwd through the commercials or ads (which most of the shows are anyway.) I also have the sports package. This gives you MAV TV on channel 408. They show a lot of hunting, shooting, home defense, and fishing ...

That's too bad that you had a less-than-ideal experience. That's just another reason that I'll always try and get on a six-pack instead of the sardine boats. I feel that the sardine boats just give you a tour of the area while the six-packs actually try and get you on some action. The six'ers will be more money but it's like anything else: You get what you pay for.
