"The bill would also ban the taking of any striped bass less than 20 inches long......" Is this a misprint or are they going to lower the minimum size to 20"? Also--don't think for a minute that banning commercial fishing will save 1.1 million pounds of fish, because Massachusetts' quota will be then divided among RI, NY, MD, VA and NC. I'd rather see those 1.1 million pounds caught on rod and reel up...

"If" this wasn't a misprint, there is one advantage to taking smaller fish. Pretty much all fish over 28" are females. If they allow bass to be harvested below that, a certain number of those are likely to be males.

Was down at Bell rd. this morning helping pick up trash and there had to be
300-400 eiders in the backwater of the flats against the rock wall on the
east running tide. That's a real sign of what's to come.

Yup - suprised it doesn't get witnessed nore often. Seals + deep, cold water = Whitey.
Heading out to Crab Ledge a few years ago we saw a deal seal floating on the surface that had a big bite taken out of it.

Congrats on a dandy of a deer. I've been out quite a bit but have only seen
small does thus far. Waiting for your deer's cousin to come by my stand!

Massachusetts had a very large influx of krill this spring, which is why we had such an explosion of whales along our coast line. I suspect as the water temperature increases in the early spring the hatches get a chance to really explode and as the water cools we just may see less of them. I suspect that we still have some krill pods out on the Sw corner of Stellwagon and surrounding waters . ...

a couple of years ago i had great success fishing shads in the shallows. i found that on most occasions the shad would get hammered just as it entered a lit area, on the edge of the shadows.
when utilizing that method, i most ceratinly look for an area with good structure close to shore and some light in the area as well. but then again, im not fishing in front of the light.

Stuff has been percolating for a while and from some close to the issues, it reaches far beyond that which has been published in various news accounts.
It will be interesting how this plays out. Corral the wagons and have limited hangout, or let it all hang out.
For sure it's embarrassing for the town and for all parties and municiple departments both named and unnamed.
