"best time to buy" in theory would be around when the new models start hitting the shelves. dealers would theoretically be more inclined to sell the leftovers at a much cheaper price-thus netting you a deal. remember a demo may get you a great deal, but hobie tends not to warranty problems on kayaks that were used as demos/rentals.

It's a great boat! Be careful about having the Hobie guy rig it before you use it. I would use it a few times and get a feel for where you want stuff to go before drilling holes. Good luck.

we've tried two people, no luck one has the button stuck inside and the other the button is out. both are graphite or carbon, rather light and would crack with too much tension/pressure hobie and other is aquabound

I had the hobie paddle stuck as well. Two people pulling and twisting worked. As was already mentioned, shave the one side down when you get them apart and you'll be fine.

I unfortunately had to put them away real early this year. Had to get my knee operated on again in September, and prior to that, I couldn't take long periods of time in the seat. But watch out come march!!!

I launched just at sunrise on Monday morning with great conditions. I started after a group of birds that was pretty close to shore and landed 3 small bluefish in the first 10 minutes. After that I saw a huge group of birds working about 1 mile out and headed after them. It was pretty much non stop action once I got to the birds with all bass. The conditions got worse as the morning went on...

I just got back from nine days of fishing in the Nicoya peninsula of Costa Rica: kayak, surfcasting, and inshore panga. We used Ralph Solano as our guide, and Ed and I had a wonderful, wonderful time. It was quite reasonably priced, and a hell of a lot of fun. Still waiting for pictures and such, but it was a great trip, and I can't wait to go back. More to follow.
