Choptank, your new boat looks great. I don't understand the style of the consoles that they put on these boats, but I do love them. They are definitely unique. Best of luck with it.

Maycraft skiff?
Published (2008-11-26 08:36:00)
I was looking at the Maycraft some time back. There were models up to about 20' plus the big pilot house model. Looking down the bow of the smaller ones, I remember one or two models looked like they would cut the water pretty well, while the others looked more like they would end up shaking your teeth loose. Nothing worse than a hard ride - worse as you get older.

I am considering buying a new Maycraft 1700 CC skiff with a 50HP Yamaha 4 stroke. It would be used mostly in the Pamlico sound, for some fishing, and mostly just joyriding for 2 (umm .. "advanced middle age") adults. Do any of you here have any experience with this combination? I've found a lot of nice used boats of this size, but what I "think" that I want to buy is something that ...

I'm wondering if anybody has had any dealings with Comstock Yacht Sales & Marina in New Jersey? I'm looking for a Jones 1910 and they have a used one. I would have to take the trip from Cape Cod and would like a little insight on there reputation first. Thanks

Just curious as to some cool spots to anchor or beach the boat in Long Island Sound on a weekend. I was looking at google maps and the area around Orient Point, Gardiners Island looks like it might be worth trying, not sure if that is private or not. I haven't been out that way in a while. Thanks in advance. Mike.

Being in SoCo R.I.,,, besides Craigslist, any suggestions where to look? Mostly interested in a fishing rig, CC or SC, either with a newer engine or none at all. DON"T want a fix-er-upper. Mybe some little stuff, but not a whole season's worth of work & money. I've spent a lot of time and gas chasing down leads and look-sees. Marinas don't seem to have much in this size in good condition. ...
