Going up 1 tooth. So that would give it a higher top end speed too right? Would that help smooth out the power on a turn? because it slides so easy coming out of a turn, even with really smooth throttle.

yes that would net a higher top speed and sacrifice some Low end pull. Might help with the lack of Traction as you would need to give more throttle for the same amount of pull.

I would switch to a 4.5" rim. That might buy you the clearance you need and the tire will fit the rim better.

if you can get a hold of them, maxxis/goldspeed street legal slicks. if that's not an option, think my next choice in line would be the pirelli dragon (left) or diablo (right) supercorsa pro tyres if they have to be street legal. they're pretty pricey though, I used them because I could get a hold of trackday take-offs so it didn't cost me so much to run them.

tubeless kits
Published (2009-11-19 23:40:15)
i sent an email to neutech (they make the tublis kits) and they replied that they are looking at april 2010 to have a 17" kit. right now i think they have an 18" or 19" which is used for off-road. hopefully the 17" does make it this april. from what ive read the off-road versions seem to good.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to bite the bullet an buy a set of spokes. When I laced my front wheel I ordered a set from Buchanan's http://www.buchananspokes.com and they worked out great. They even included spoke prep and warnings like, "make sure to properly tension the spokes or the wheel will fail," lol. Anyways, they were pricy at $80-90 but seemed to be very good quality.

I've been working on it and it will now run when you turn the throttle but it bogs and sometimes dies when you take the choke off. What is the factory setting for the mixture screw anyone?

The 2008 and on Husky SMRs have shorter swingarms that do not accommodate 18 or 19" dirt wheels so you'd be stuck with 17" tires. Older SMRs can swap back and forth, as can TE models of any year. Suspension is a little shorter on the SMR so it's not plush off-road. Depends on how fussy you are and how hard-core your D/S riding is.

A123 batteries have special charging needs. IDK if charging them off of a stator coil will work properly(safely). Them saying the packs don't need balancing is absolute BS, unless you're charging them so slowly that the cells with a lower IR self-discharge at a rate faster than the high IR cells charge up. Your talking milli-amps and 24+ hours to charge at that rate. I only glanced at ...

You need to install a dirt version caliper, along with a conversion bracket. The radial calipers are pretty thick and will hit the spokes as you have found. That or you will need to change the fork bottom foot to a lug mount style and a off road rotor and caliper or change the forks.....

I met Rob way back when he was running a CR500 in a home made frame. Clever guy. Haven't seen the snowmobile powered bike in person but there have been a few tech articles on it in magazines like Roadracing World. It has a transmission but I' sure it was custom built and not just bolted on. Last I heard the guy left Polaris and went to Renault F1. He has resources you and I don't.
