Yeah could just be some virus'. If you don't know just take it to best buys or where ever else people take their computers and pay $50+ an hour just to fix miniscule problems. I once had a laptop so bad that it took about 20 minutes to startup and then you couldn't even move the mouse without studders. I'm not even sure how people put so much spyware/virus' on their computers.

Congrats on a beautiful machine. No, adding RAM will not help at all unless you are running low on RAM and the system has to page to the hard disk. Given your stated uses, it is highly unlikely you are using the 4GB you already have.

I log onto my site via IE. click on webguide and choose videos. it just won't play AVI movies. I can download them and play them but just not Play or stream from WHS

When I plug in first time my laptop find new hardware but not visible in computer.I check in manager and was visible but not visible in my computer.I restart computer and nothing happen when I plug in.I try all usb ports and nothing.I plug in to usb and nothing.Light on hard drive is on and hard drive is spinning. I reinstall fesh copy of W7 64 bit.I plug in and laptop find hardware and say that is ready to use but not visible in my computer...

quad core 27" imac = 2560 x 1440 resolution screen $2k for the whole computer 30" cinema display = 2560 x 1600 $1800 if you wanna stick w/ apple might as well get the 27" quad core, you said you have $ to buy whatever and want the best bang for your buck, that screen is worth a lot of $

uh, why? you shouldnt need that in a normal house. another thing is that you dont need wireless routers, you could just use wireless access points.. but still, one should do, maaaybe two if its a big house

The blotches are when the laquer on the dvd separates from the plastic, call it poor craftsmanship? Disc is done for so make a copy fast if you can. Can you run any other known good discs on your laptop drive?

If you're going to use consumer routers for this solution, get something that supports WDS. I use Apple routers because I've found them to be the most reliable consumer-level hardware.

Where'd you get the DVD that you're booting from? Something is wrong with it, or it doesn't support your platform. Are you using an Intel-only DVD? You need something that supports PPC processors. Whether 7 is a tarted up version of Vista or not, it is pretty damn good and I applaud Microsoft for doing their homework this time around.

I was looking into i5 & i7 but the CPU & Mobo would have taken me into the $400+ range. I wouldn't have been able to keep the PSU either. Not positive, but would I have had to dump XP too?

I would think it's key generators. Do the listings say "Guaranteed to work and if ever will provide new keys to reactivate.." something along those lines?
