Yeah could just be some virus'. If you don't know just take it to best buys or where ever else people take their computers and pay $50+ an hour just to fix miniscule problems. I once had a laptop so bad that it took about 20 minutes to startup and then you couldn't even move the mouse without studders. I'm not even sure how people put so much spyware/virus' on their computers.

The blotches are when the laquer on the dvd separates from the plastic, call it poor craftsmanship? Disc is done for so make a copy fast if you can. Can you run any other known good discs on your laptop drive?

Where'd you get the DVD that you're booting from? Something is wrong with it, or it doesn't support your platform. Are you using an Intel-only DVD? You need something that supports PPC processors. A retail version of Leopard (not Snow Leopard, as that's Intel-only) or the discs that came with the Powerbook will work. edit: After reading the message fully, you do have a version that supports PPC,...

I would think it's key generators. Do the listings say "Guaranteed to work and if ever will provide new keys to reactivate.." something along those lines?
