Does it feel like hitting a rev limiter? If so, I would floor it for 30 seconds or until your CEL comes on. Which ever comes first. That is what the Subaru tech did in my car to diagnose the cracked Spark Plug.

i have been reading up on the 2009 WRX and noticed it now has a larger turbo than the 2008 wrx and now comes from the factory with just shy of 270 hp. In one review i read, they said the power feels similar to an old wrx with stage 2 modifications. so all this got me thinking- since the wrx now has a larger turbo than previous wrx's and comes with 20 hp more than a legacy, would this be a ...

James Bond style smoke out the tailpipe is actually seldom a broken ring land. A motor with a cracked ring land actually runs and drive pretty well. The idle will be a bit lumpy and power will be down, but there is seldom much visible smoke. If you are spewing clouds of smoke then either a blow head gasket or leaking turbo oil seals are more likely to blame. Like pretty much everyone else has...

Before I get to the numbers I want to cover some of the details. First, this is a prototype unit and has several differences from what we intend to have manufactured, all of which I expect to improve the performance of the turbo. This is the first time I have had the chance to tune the car on the dyno with this turbo. The test vehicle is my own personal vehicle, a 2008 WRX. Power wise the only ...

While fueling up my 96 Legacy GT it started to sputter than died. I believe the timing belt either slipped or jumped. My question is ... if the belt did slip will the pistons hit the values? The motor turns over but very quickly and doesn't start. Any help is appreciated, because now I have to drive my wife's diesel pick up which the fuel alone is costing me an arm & a leg let alone ...

The bone stock car has about 54k on it... when it's warmed up, it will cutout at 4500ish rpm under WOT. Runs fine cold with no issues. The car is throwing no codes ... does this with both a custom flash and OE flash. I'm perplexed to say the least. My fuel pressure gage is dead, so that's on the shopping list. However, anyone have any thoughts?

Anyone have trouble with the perrin TMIC touching the clutch master cylinder lid. I can hear it rattle when I first start the car. It also is transmitting engine noise into the car because it is resting on it a bit. I tried to use washers to space the bracket but it seems to just draw down toward it when you tighten the bolts to the turbo. Any pointers would be good if anyone has run ...

I was wondering what the best oil to use for my car is. For the first 10k i used a non synthetic b/c that is what someone told me to use to break in the car. For the past 27k i have been using royal purple. Any opinions on this and should I change?

Kinda confused.. I've had no issues until right after the install. While in any boost I blow oil. Its not in the inlet and is not getting trapped in the catch can. Tested number 2/4 and got 147psi/150psi so this leads me to believe it is the turbo. Is there a certain break in? Even being it should not blow oil as bad as it does? Anyone have a diagram on the pcv/vac line so I can ...

Just received my WBR ELH today. I wrapped it (and the WBR UP I got with it). So far I am impressed w/ the quality of welds and coating. Not to mention the SS used in construction seems to be pretty good as well. (Obviously not as thick as a FR megga $$ header). I really like the 3 bolt or 2 bolt UP design. I also like how the header doesn't have any bottle necks at ...

I was driving my stock 2009 Legacy GT today and I was going to pass the poor guy in front of me (he didn’t have a Subaru). As a habit from driving lower performance cars, I usually begin accelerating behind the car I want to pass before pulling out and even before the left lane has fully cleared. So, I began accelerating gently, and then once the lane was cleared, I pressed the gas pedal to about...
