Remember that in a few years you'll be sick of that blonde circulators &^*& regardless of how sexy her VS bra is (which by the way, you'll be paying for).

never really heard of someone doing vascular THEN ct. usually by the time you are done vascular you are tired of being a resident and you have good jobs prospects by the time you are done CT.. you are tired of being a resident and have NO job prospects, thus you do a vascular fellowship to feed your family. vascular after CT would mainly be to learn the endvascular techniques. as you know- some CT surgeons like to be known as...

I agree with Amgen, but I also find it hilarious that medical students (my humble self included) are trying to weigh in seriously on your career choice. If you've found what you love, and you're a surgery resident taking that call and caring for those patients, I'd be willing to bet you're making a well-considered decision. Academic transplant peeps do have time to run their labs, go to conferences and so forth (at least at...

Hey Maverick I majored in Stats in undergrad, so I'll try to offer a few suggestions Microsoft Excel can do some basic statistical computing for you, but I haven't used Excel for a while so I don't really know of any resources that could help you. "R" is a free, open source statistical software that can do a variety of things. At Berkeley, which is where i did my undergrad, there is a great course called STAT...

I just finished my surgery rotation as an MS3 and I definately felt "sheltered" a little bit... In 7 weeks (3.5weeks at private hospital, 3.5weeks at university hospital) i had to do 8 overnight calls where I was suppose to stay til noon the following day (but was typically sent home after rounds/conference in the morning unless I stayed in for a case on my own). My experience was significantly different at each place... at...

So far, I have had two interviews. The first one was at my home institution and so I sent something to everyone. For the second one, I sent one to interviewers and the program director (everyone minus the chairman). Would also be curious as to what others are doing.

So im a PGY3 surg resident now, and ive noticed something about ms3 students, it seems atleast at my institution that they are protected soo much that they dont learn anything, and i say that for many reasons, let me compare and contrast my ms3 experience: I came in to round at 4:30-5 before the interns They come in at 6 when i now come in I used to write 4-6 full notes in the am before ...

Am doing several research projects on my own, however, I suck at statistics. My hospital doesnt have a person to help out with stats, given that its not a very rich place. Which possible sources can I look at to find a statiscian who would be willing to help. Are they expensive? Also how to go about obtaining statistical software -they are super-expensive?

Perhaps this will offer some additional insight. Regardless of the type or location of the program you match into, you will never do all the possible cases out there. You may very well be asked to do something as an attending you've never done before (I saw this with many of my former Chiefs and friends). Every program will get you the minimum number of required procedures; no one knows...
