Was just reading another thread that brought something to my attention that I did not know: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=688288 Keep a list of the schools you applied to the first time around. You have to mark if you have applied to schools before.... There is a box you have to select "Yes" for "Previously applied" for each specific school.

This is an interesting quesiton because many schools that are 98-100% pass rate on the COMLEX step I don't allow all of their students to actually sit for the exam. This is where Touro-NY may have dropped the ball, allowing 100% of their students to take the boards yielding the 78% initial pass rate...

Unfortunately, that misconception is extended to some adcoms. I think CC classes are just fine as long as you take university classes as well.

Some of this is true. Some advisors close to Obama have actually stated that the reason healthcare is so expensive is that doctors make too much money. Cant wait to have my salary mandated by the federal government. Actually taking the time to read sections of what was drwan up in the House of Reps is time consuming but is worth it. From what I've read, it definitely doesnt look good, for ...

RVU does have provisional accredidation. I would be more concerned over private loans vs govnm't loans and the quality of their 3rd and 4th yr rotations. Cost and the caliber of the clinical years are probably the two most important aspects of medical education (or at least to me). Good luck!

When you fill out the AACOMAS (primary application) you will list all of the activities you are/were involved in and you include dates in the information that you give. As far as only one semester of volunteering in addition to what you already do I'm not sure how they will look at that so hopefully others will comment on that. I would recommend that you continue to volunteer after you send ...

The first year at DMU is mostly basic science with courses such as biochem, anatomy, micro, physio, immuno, etc. Physical diagnosis begins in the second semester. The second year is mostly systems like cardio, GI, derm, etc, but you also have pharmacology and an evidence-based medicine course.

Both are good schools. The main difference IMO is where you want to do your third and fourth year rotations. OU-COM is associated with a CORE of hospitals with in ohio so you would primarily stay in ohio for your rotations. Meanwhile, LECOM is associated with hospitals all throughout the country, so this would provide you with some flexibility as to where you rotated. Also, another factor to...

So it seems the time is upon us again and a new crop of folks wanting to apply is already starting to ask the age old questions. Shadowing is important, there are a variety of reasons why you should do it. It's winter break at schools, the majority of adcoms are not meeting. If you submit your secondary now, odds are your file is just going to sit there until adcoms meet again in January. Why not take this opportunity to get around 20-40 hours of shadowing in. Go out there and get it done, I know I did around half ...
