PT Aide: experience required?
Published (2009-11-05 14:46:00)
I have worked as a PT Aide at a private outpatient pt clinic. They required a bachelors degree, they wanted someone who had an interest in physical therapy/was applying to PT school, preferred someone with a background in exercise, ability to multitask, good customer service skills, good communication skills. I searched for PT jobs for a while and most positions did not require the bachelors degree but did want someone who was interested in...

Yeah it seems that most schools in my area are being pretty strict regarding the prerequisites.

I think there are a bunch of threads about this topic, so check out those threads as well. I personally chose an MPT because the tuition and I liked the school. I don't know if ALL the extra cost of a DPT, compared to an MPT, can be justified. Some of that extra cost seems to be only paying for the title. Anyways, I'm sure there are people that think a DPT worth the extra cost, so I'd like to hear some different opnions.

well here it is then, plain and simple. My girlfriend/engaged wife at the time in the middle of november swerved to miss a deer, and so did the car in oncoming traffic. The car in the oncoming traffic hit my girlfriend and pushed her in to a tree and she later passed away. It took me a very long time to get over her death, and some days im still not over it. I blew off school and just drank. I am retaking classes now to make up for my lack of...

PT salary/opportunities

Muller, I have similar questions. I have recently applied to PT school and I am wondering if anyone knows of any debt relief programs after graduation? I'm worried that my starting salary will not be enough to get me out of a substantial financial crisis.

From what I understand as long as you e-submit your application to the PTCAS before the schools deadline your good. Even if the PTCAS mails your app after the schools deadline.

I'm not involved with Northwestern but a way you can tell is by looking at the faculty and seeing how many of them have the NCS credential. If they are strong in Neuro then they will probably have at least 3 faculty members with it. I know my school ( St. Augustine) is well known for manual therapy/ortho and most of the faculty have a credential in that.

Hello
I also received an invitation for Chatham interview Nov.7...So excited!! I applied to Pitt as well but I did my undergrad there and heard they prefer not to accept their own grads. I don't really get that logic but giving it a shot anyway.

Hah. That's some good advice and was something I was wondering about. I recieved a C- in English my freshman year. I am graduating and will be retaking English at CC. In reality they are almost the exact same class, read a few stories and write a few short papers on them (granted a lot more stories and papers at my 4 year). However, the 1 at my 4 year is more geared towards being exposed to all ...

I don't know anything about your undergraduate university or LSU's PT school. But with your GPA, the (PT school) world is your oyster.

I couldn't agree more.
This is applicable to every profession and should be addressed in all high schools.

It's hard to answer how you can bring up your GPA without knowing how many classes you have left to take. Nevertheless, you probably need to continue to get As and Bs with whatever is left. On the other hand, you may want to retake the GREs as a 710 cumulative with a 3.5 analytical will work against you. Most schools want at least 1000 with a 4.0 analytical.
