I honesly have idea how this will work out as I have not spoke to anyone who has reapplied after a similar situation but at this point I think you've done about all you can do. You kept in contact with schools, firgured which ones would even consider your app, kept involved in medicine, and worked...

I'm not an MSI, but I would recommend that you all do some clinical research during your summer. It doesn't have to be big....even just writing up a case report in the field you anticipate applying. It goes a long way when application time arrives.
Just follow a few easy steps:
1. Contact a department head and ask to write up a case
2. Get the case to write up

I met a number of residents on the interview trail who successfully "suicide matched" but in all cases they did almost all of their rotations at that particular hospital. Dunno how many people failed at it, but I can only guess and would imagine it could be pretty high. I know a number of people in the class ahead of me who tried it and failed.
