The thing all about the Army mental health taskers was the Marine Corps needed the mental health officers way more than the Army. It seemed like we had 1/10th of the mental health assets that the Army had. At the same time the Navy leadership supported pulling what little mental health assets we had to support the Army compounding the problem. For example, one of the social workers who got murdered in Iraq was pulled from Camp Lejeune...

It was my impression that utilization tours (in between residency and fellowship) are less common in the Army than they are in the AF and Navy. Am I wrong?

He was a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military’s Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency (Psychiatry) and a fellowship.

One thing I like about civilian medicine is getting a stable pay check every month. There are no hoops to jump through or bonuses to worry about. Wouldn't you rather have those bonuses split up in 12 monthly payments??

HSCP and uniforms.
Re: the uniform question: my understanding is that there is no AT with HSCP. If I do a clerkship at a military facility, I'll wear a chief's uniform unless they tell me differently.

Something you might want to look at (if this is possible scenario for you) is AR 614-200. Supposedly, married officers go together to posts...the lower ranked officer follows the higher ranked one.
