I think I might go in 1x a year for more training, but they might not do that unless absolutely necessary, since it will be in MN and they'll have to pay for our flights + hotels again. They will probably try to do a lot of powerpoints or webinars for training. I don't want to be a jackass, but the one thing that I'm not going to do again is share a room for 12 days with a coworker, so it will be quite expensive for them to fly...

I got offered a job that my wife found on yahoo jobs, but it was like 6 years ago. When I interviewed, they said I was one of three people who even contacted them. I think people are so anti-website job hunting (at least in Ames) that either nobody saw it or nobody bothered 'wasting their time' applying. I was surprised how enthusiastic this company was about me having applied though. I figured they'd get bombarded with junk...

I had to have an electrician come out and build a second phone jack for my DSL line, which delayed my in-home set up, but I think it's going to be pretty sweet once I'm done. I think after our 12 business day trip we all bonded a little bit more, so it's...

If you have ADD or difficulty being self-motivated, then working from home is bad. The lack of social interaction can suck, but there are ways to fight it. It's important to get into a routine like you would if you were going to work.

IMO most all the larger ones(Monster seems to be the worst), are spammed with recruiting firms. Dice.com is ok as is careerbuilder.com On occasion, computerjobs.com has listings.

Yahoo and google both have message boards. Yahoo's are much more popular, but tend to have a ton of crappy low quality posts, so I prefer to stick with google. I applied for a zecco.com account, and they are kinda backwards, they want you to photocopy your drivers license or other ID and either email or mail it to them. I didn't have to do all that stuff when I signed up with ...

I have not taken this class but I can vouch for the fact that Ann G-T is a pretty cool person and would probably make an excellent professor. I know her through the Admissions Office and she was very good at explaining technical things in simple terms when I asked. Anyway, I hope that helps bit.

I like traditional 401k because I contribute the max and reduce my income to below $75k and qualify for a partial student loan interest deduction. Plus, if you have a good 401k that has a lot of funds, it's better (right now) to have higher contributions to some pretty undervalued funds which will likely have large gains to offset the tax difference (think small cap indexes and foreign equities)....

I really like the ones I got from work, they are black on the front, and then solid red on the back. I think they look pretty cool with the solid color on the back. My personal ones have nice logo and then my cell and email address since those aren't going to change. I am not going to put my address on there anymore since I still am at the point where I move every couple years or so, and nobody...
