if I'm changing my own oil, it's almost certainly going to run over by several thousand miles. I will occassionally inspect the underside of the Explorer just to see how it's doing. And mostly because it's always gratifying when I'm so used to seeing rust or shit not assembled/not working.

VERY happy with the WS60s so far. I've been running just behind or in the storm the whole way, subjecting them to every kind of winter weather, and they're just rocking on. More review later.

I'd love to get some winter tires for the crown vic, but would first want to get some wheels so I wouldn't have to take it into the shop every time I wanted to swap. There are thousands of old police interceptors out there, so I'm certain there is a junkyard around that has some old steel wheels for "cheap" (e.g. $25-30 a pop), but I have yet to find that junkyard. Any recommendations for the DSM area?

you can get a decent multimeter for $20 at a hardware store which will be handy around the home, car, computer stuff, etc.

I don't go to places like jiffy lube unless I'm in a huge hurry and it needs to be done. I go to my small town Iowa mechanic, or as I did when I moved to Texas, I asked a few people who'd been living there for some time. As far as changing my own oil, no way Jose. I'm more likely to screw something up than they are. Plus, my dad always taught me to spend my time learning the skills necessary to make enough money to pay...
