Curunauth rambles on a bit, "The Delgwil are odd foes. Each looks a bit different and some say they were originally carved in hopes of keeping demons and evil spirits at bay up in Angmar. They were like statuary on roofs but the Witch-King found a way to infest them with his evil servants of the restless dead. I suppose they are related to the Barrow Wights but more mobile and more capable of independent action. I fought this one a...

Well, as for taking over Rapture even when it was hell on Earth: Spoiler: as the ending "evil movie" shows, using the hell that Rapture had become you could take control of nuclear weapons and rule the world, or something. As for the con: Spoiler: most sucessful cons rely on giving someone exactly what they want, but then they discover that what they thought they wanted sounded much better on paper. Cons, at the best, take...

First of all, I have been a Boston Red Sox fan for 56 years, so there is no anti-Red Sox bias in my question. One of the most famous events in recent baseball history is Boston's Curt Schilling pitching in Game Six of the 2004 ALCS against the New York Yankees with blood from the sutures of an experimental operation performed on his ankle the night before visably soaking into his sock. The ...

Now, Valve has decided to make a perfect game using the perfect gamemode (co-operative multiplayer,) using the perfect genre (fuckin' zombies ) and it all comes out in about a week and a half. So, who else plans on playing this perfect game? For those of you who haven't yet heard about the impending deluge of awesome, here you go. ...

So this is my idea for a discussion not only on where the two markets stand, but where they are going and ultimately (and perhaps most importantly) what will it mean for us gamers in the near and not so near future? The idea for this thread really came about from some discussion (heated and otherwise) between myself and Justin Bailey in the Left 4 Dead thread and elsewhere. Justing makes ...

"I've Never" is a fun party game that you can play at home with your friends that I've adapted for message board play. If you try this at home, be prepared to learn a whole lot about your friends. I will start you all off with a statement "I've never ___________." Anyone playing who HAS __________ before must give me a toothpick. Then the next person gives their "I've never _________." ...

The National Hockey League is reviewing the trapezoid rule--a rule designed to increase scoring that seems to be resulting in more injuries. This got us thinking--what other rule changes were made that ended up being bad ideas due to unintended consequences? (And no, this isn't an invitation to discuss the designated hitter rule...unless you must.)

I'm designing a character for a game of Shadowrun which will likely eventually get played, but not fore a while, so no rush. In designing my character for this game, I can install futuristic cyberware, but also bioware, which can be artificial organs, or much more often additions to those organs. One inrcedibly cool little option is called the Chemical Gland. Not surprisingly, it manufacturs...

It seems to me that the roles of pitchers have gotten to be much more specialized, i.e. starter, middle reliever and a closer who almost always comes into the ninth inning only. But here is my question, why are they not situation specific specialists as opposed to inning-specialist. Let me clarify, Suppose a team with an ace one-inning closer ( Frankie Rodriguez for example) had a one -run ...

It is a most ordinary evening. A dull light escapes from the lamp shade in the corner. The central air reads a comfortable 72 degrees. You sit in the basement, spinning around on your bright blue desk chair, a look of smug satisfaction plastered across your face. As you snacked upon Cheetos, you ponder your busy evening. First, you posted the latest adventures of your cat, Cecil, which ...

Got it at midnight, and four hours in I feel pretty confident calling it the Game of the Year by quite a bit. Every element of it is outstanding so far. Yes, it's Oblivion with guns, but with everything streamlined and improved and better over that game. I almost think of it more as "Bioshock as a true RPG." Outstanding!
