Home for the weekend. Sweet. Yes, Geek Squad is a complete ripoff. But did you expect any less from a PC repair chain? They didn't get fleets of those little VW bugs and at-home service by being cheap. Or necessarily competent. Or honest. Mom 'n pop shops are often the best places to go to for that sort of thing because they welcome the money and want repeat business. Dunno what I'm having for dinner yet.

Well, my provider says that it won't work there. I don't quite trust this, though, as their website mentions roaming agreements with two Japanese carriers on 2100-MHz third-generation GSM-family digital cellular (which is what 3G really means), also known as UMTS, and the iPhone is sold in Japan, and Apple's website lists 3G/UMTS compatibility on the 2100-MHz band, but the website treats the iPhoen as something different from...

I really fucking hate it when people say "a myriad of [noun]" instead of "a myriad [noun]." I recognize that it's perfectly grammatical and valid, but it's like someone dragging fingernails down the chalkboard of my mind.

Mass shooting in downtown Orlando.

Well, most times the shooter either kills himself or is shot by police. It's very rare that they capture him alive. Plus, it's news. People near the area need to know to stay put, and drivers can learn why the highway is suddenly shut down. And the rest of us can post our observations on message boards.

Welcome to the world of IT support. Without fail, every Friday afternoon between 4 and 5 someone will call it with some stupid non-urgent problem that either could have been reported at 9am, or could wait til Monday.
There are two kinds of customers: those who don't call when they should, and those who call when they shouldn't.

As a med student rotating through Neurology, I learned that many "neurologic" conditions are in fact psychiatric problems. Half of a neurologist's job is sorting out what neurologic problems can be explained by a legitimate spinal cord/brain lesion versus which are really mental problems.
These people may truly believe and perceive that something is wrong with their body...it kind of makes ...

Not mundane and pointless.
I understand feeling bound up in that identity of addict-now-not-an-addict. Either way you feel you have been defined by that. And to have the chance to NOT be defined by that must be headspinning.
I do think you are playing with fire. Not to say you can't learn to drink moderately now, not to say that your slide down a slippery slope is inevitable. But you've ...

I was taking my morning walk the other day. The end of my walk is through a strip mall. Right next to the grocery store, between the grocery store and the next shop over there is a trash can. Right next to the trash can is a pair of shoes. The were sitting very neatly, side by side kind of like you'd line up your shoes in your closet but they were next to the trash can. Later that day, I ...

Yikes! I don't think I know anyone like that. My parents did a pretty good job of teaching me how to cook frugally and my sister-in-law is the master of making the dollar stretch. Most of my friends and I are frugal by accident, because we try to be environmentally conscious. That results in us buying reusable water bottles/food wrappers/etc., making our own cleaning supplies, and buying few ...

Hmmmm. Well, I've certainly been drunk. So, what haven't I done that's 'typical' for around here?
Well, I've never gone hunting or fishing. Don't have anything against either sport, and I'm not afraid to fire a gun. But I've never been hunting.
Around these parts of WV, that's pretty rare.

I don't know, I personally find the English R sound to be rather a bit crappy. Something like rolling a bit of half-chewed radish around in one's mouth. With a nice trilled R you might have a bit more of a point, though.

Mr. S says he doesn't get much thrill out of sitting around watching a bunch of millionaires running around on a field when he could be doing something more interesting, like working on his house, or reading a book, or hell, even spending time with his wife. He absorbs some knowledge of sports just by osmosis, I guess, but he's not obsessed with it and doesn't follow any current sports. He ...
