Two in this town. They're a couple, though, so I'm going to count them as one. Then there are two others who I don't live near anymore, but we are still very good friends and talk at least weekly. If you expand to people I kind of know and like and talk to sometimes, maybe four. Casual acquaintances, I don't know. Much like Sunspace, I don't know the "degree of gayness" of everyone I kibbitz with by...

Advice on how to control a cat
Published (2009-11-07 23:39:00)
We are having the same problem with our 10 year old cat. Since we moved into our new house, I think our bed has become her safety zone, and this is a problem because my husband is allergic to cats (we have two), and he really needs them to stay out of the bedroom. They get to come in for a little while before we go to sleep, but then we kick them out. She mewls and scratches and *launches* herself at the door off and on all night. I made her a...

Have a goal! Do Couch to 5K and immediately pick out your 5K and sign up for it. Joggers don't run races - runners do.
And try to forget how dumb you look. I know I look like a total moron when I run, especially with all my gadgets and stuff. I just try to get it to motivate me, because if I look dumb running in tights and a huge GPS watch and a hydration belt and a dog with a backpack...

I voted embarassment, because he doesn't look at all like the emotion he's supposed to represent.
I mean, check him out:
He looks more like he's practicing for jack-o-lanternship, and hasn't gotten it quite right yet.

My favorites are Arizona and Kentucky. Nice layout that captures multiple iconic representations of the state.
The worst, by far, is Michigan. Some other are boring, but this one's boring AND dumb. The Great Lakes, including the one that doesn't even border the state? They really couldn't think of better than that?

Get him some active toys like the turboscratcher or a mouse on a string that can hang from an open doorway. Also get a scratching box that hangs from the knob and put it on the outside of the door to encourage him to scratch appropriately. Otherwise you just have to wait out the kitten energy and wear him out during the day with a laser pointer to help him calm down a bit at night.

That stuff mostly works by virtue of observation/correlation bias. It's the same with HeadOn (which, if you haven't heard, should be applied directly to the forehead) or Canada's ever-popular Cold FX (which is basically another Airborne.) You just sell people a "remedy" for something they'd get over anyway. They apply it directly to the forehead, or take the pills or whatever, and when the ...

From threads like this before, I gathered that earliest memories average right around that 2½ year mark, so it's entirely possible.
My earliest memory is of climbing a particular flight of stairs to help put the angel on the top of the Christmas tree. After checking with my mom about when we were in the house in question, I would have been about 2 years, 3 months.

We had enough to put a serious dent in the candy.
One thing I've noticed is that as the makeup of the neighborhood changes, the trick or treating changes. The kids who just a few years ago had Mom and Dad drive them to your neighborhood have outgrown that - and the new generation of Moms and Dads take their kids somewhere else. And also, that as the kids in the neighborhood grow up, more ...
