Yes it's too cold in Canada, if you want some place with a mild climate you have to live in Vancouver (or that area). If Canada annext the T&C islands then Vancouver could get some well deserved competition

My parents listened to olde timey country music (Hank Snow, Wilf Carter, Marty Snow, that stuff). I listen to everything but country (although I do listen to the occasional country song - I have "Sin City" by Dwight Yoakam and k. d. lang playing on iTunes at the moment). There is very little overlap between our musical tastes. Fair's fair, though - my parents forced me to listen to country for the first 18 years of my...

I kinda like the notion of being blasted into deep space, preferably in a casket with a window in the lid, so I can look out in a metaphysical sense. Failing that, I will be buried in the family plot near my ancestral home, overlooking a bayou. It's nice there. Quiet. Way out in the country.

Well, being a guy, you're lucky you have the option of a Gatorade bottle! We women don't have that luxury! I just turned 48, and yes, in the past five years or so, my bladder is decidedly less patient than it used to be. Prior to my early 40's, with the exception of during pregnancy, I could typically sleep clear through the night; yeah, I'd wake up having to pee, but I could get through...

My experiences have been closer to "My Name is Earl" than a soap opera: - Two brothers that have Earl and Randy's general personalities, except they both looked like Randy (but the older, 'smarter' brother did have a mustache). - Older bro had a past girlfriend who had seven children by five different babydaddies, she even looked like Joy(bad blond hair don'ts, spandex, gum chewing) but...

On our first Christmas together, Mrs. Homie and I bought a real tree (Mrs. Homie campaigned for a fake one, I campaigned for a real one). We only did it once. All those pine needles were WAY too much of a hassle. We've been going fake ever since. And FTR, if you haven't bought a few strands of LED lights to put on your tree, go do it NOW. They are beautiful .

If you're going to ask me, I'll tell you that I am a good driver. If you're going to look at my driving record, you will probably conclude that I am an abysmal driver. Rare is the person that is an objective judge of himself.

Unless the person contacts me with a good reason for totally blowing me off, I choose to no longer socialize with that person. I don't make any attempt to contact them say I'm not longer socializing with them. Frankly, if they're going to blow me off, they don't care enough to wonder why I stopped calling. No biggie.

I don't carry guns everywhere, or indeed, hardly anywhere, but I'm a pretty staunch proponent of the right of responsible citizens to possess and carry firearms for reasonable defensive purposes. However, if someone were to invite me as a guess and politely request that I come unarmed ("I'm sorry, but firearms just make me a little nervous. Could you leave yours at home/in the car," I dont think...

Anti socialism lessons? I'm perplexed, too. Sometimes kids do take things out of context. Even if it is nothing, though, I don't see the harm in talking to the teacher. A good parent should be curious about what their kid learns.

I went to public schools through 7th grade. No prayers were required, and I don't even remember seeing any, except maybe before a football game. Yes, we had a 7th grade team. Went to a Catholic high school. Those folks prayed all the damn time. Before every class, assemblies, events, meals, you name it, they prayed for it. I was required to stand and otherwise be respectful, but not ...
