I've never played the nWoD. But I really enjoyed the games I played in oWoD 2e. I was majorly irritated by the plot progression of 2eRev and stopped playing around then. I had been playing dramatic heavy games before Vampire (Call of Cthulhu)...but after Vampire, it was much easier to find players who were...

I don't really find the V:tM system that offensive. A bit bland, yeah, but it does market itself as storytelling over system. And the people I know to play it are gothgirls (actual or 'weekend goths') and fairly common people, divided 50/50. I played a scenario which had one gay guy. I started RP with my son when he was 9 years old. We went for Toon first as that was what he was into at the time. There are quite a few discussions on the boards about GMing with children and there are even a few game systems written for just that purpose. Sounds interesting! I like the old fairy tales, and have often wondered why so few fantasy universes really dip into them. Sure, something is silly, but maybe it becomes more believable if toned down a bit (the gingerbread house is a powerful parallel to modern pedophilia, I always thought!). Also, there are magical effects in folklore that has been completely overlooked by most ...
