"Subjective reality" itself isn't necessarily a ripoff -- or if it is, it's one that's been going on for a long time. GURPS Illuminati itself appears to have borrowed the meme from Shea and Wilson's "Illuminatus!" trilogy, for example. I've never played the nWoD. But I really enjoyed the games I played in oWoD 2e. I was majorly irritated by the plot progression of 2eRev and stopped playing around then. I don't have time to read a new gaming book at the moment, but I will certainly pick up the new rules books sooner or later. I had been playing dramatic heavy games before Vampire (Call of Cthulhu)...but after Vampire, it was much easier to find players who were...

I don't really find the V:tM system that offensive. A bit bland, yeah, but it does market itself as storytelling over system. And the people I know to play it are gothgirls (actual or 'weekend goths') and fairly common people, divided 50/50. I played a scenario which had one gay guy. He was openly gay, but I didn't notice it until someone said it. I think bashing is here to stay, and it is more about "I wish to...

I started RP with my son when he was 9 years old. We went for Toon first as that was what he was into at the time. There are quite a few discussions on the boards about GMing with children and there are even a few game systems written for just that purpose.
Here's the last thread about it so you can read some of the comments

Sounds interesting!
I like the old fairy tales, and have often wondered why so few fantasy universes really dip into them. Sure, something is silly, but maybe it becomes more believable if toned down a bit ( the gingerbread house is a powerful parallel to modern pedophilia, I always thought!). Also, there are magical effects in folklore that has been completely overlooked by most ...

4. I must remember the lightning is chaotic, and when metal weapons are flying around it is a bad idea to cast a chain lightning spell.
5. It is a really bad idea to cast said spell when some of those metal objects are sticking into your fellow players.
6. 5 flying golems on the horizon chasing one of your NPC allies is not the proper time to give your fellow spell caster a high five and ...

Your question seems to be 'can I interact with people whose moral outlook I don't agree with and who sometimes do things I find wrong'? I'd answer that with a yes.

The dinner isn't that evening- it's a few days away. As word gets out of the the PCs' upcoming audience with the lord, mysterious, well-dressed figures give them advice/warnings about how to act and who to watch out for. This info may or may not be accurate. ("Didn't the guy in the brown cloak say Lord Carstairs and Baron Crummwelt weren't speaking to each other? They certainly seem to be getting...
