Pedestrian duels - Page 4 -...

Re: Pedestrian duels I finally ran a $5k/$5 vehicle vs. pedestrian duel using the 5th edition rules with a friend. In case you are unfamiliar, this eliminates burst and area effects for vehicular weapons as well as many useful devices that could help the pedestrians. Rules were 5e only, no dropped weapons. Only ped gear allowed was what's found in the 5th edition rulebook on p13. On page 2 of this long thread, you will find the 8 peds...

Re: Pedestrian duels Thanks for the testing and report. Sounds like if the peds had any kind of cover at the start, it might have been an easy win for them (would have mad ramming harder). __________________ A generous and sadistic GM, Brandon Cope http://copeab.tripod.com

Hey now, there you go finding real-world examples to apply to CW! I wasn't going to go there, but yeah - had a son-in-law driving in those convoys.

Car Wars counters in 3D
Published (2010-01-04 09:18:00)
Car Wars counters in 3D In honor of Avatar, I've decided to make 3D versions of all the 5e counters (plus acid clouds and ice). To put it mildly, this is going to be a long, involved task becuz I need a lot of counters. Of course, there is one fundamental problem when you go 3D with the dropped weapon counters. What do you do when a 3D car attempts to pass through a 3D smoke cloud? I came up with a solution to this problem - magnets....

2009 Car Wars was Good!

Re: 2009 Car Wars was Good! Dug out my Car Wars stash and discovered it was quite large. Filled out with lots of on-line purchases. Actually found some road atlas and survival guides in dead tree edition. Managed to get one of them for $7 including shipping to the UK. Started two e-mail based games, one completed a simple arena duel in only 2 months (eek). The other with a wider player base is still running. Started re-reading everything and...

2009 Car Wars was Good!
Published (2009-12-31 21:00:00)
The rules and a couple of suppliments came out online. We populated Boardgame Geek a bit with Car Wars info and session reports. A great new vehicle design sheet was designed. I must have played 10 face to face games. Finished my base set of miniature cars and counters. Also made some arena buildings and landed a great game mat. Hooked up for a day of gaming with two of the biggest Car Wars fanatics on this planet. That one goes down as my...

Drawing out Maps
Published (2009-12-31 09:24:00)
I love the old blank map sheets; they're worth tracking down a set as the Arena Book and L'Outrance are geared to them... as are several ADQ articles. The multi-map extravaganzas are inspiring, but not well suited to Amateur Night games. A single map sheet can be too big depending on the obstacles and vehicle designs. Amateur Night is more like cock fighting than dueling. My own crude maps play well enough, but Earlburt is the...

This is an interesting idea. Of course this general concept is part of the Midville/MONDOs scenario of Crash City.
I think the results of 5k/5k duel would largely depend on the terrain (if any) that the pedestrians could hide in.
I might try this just to see what happens someday soon.

Bad Idea For A Duel
Each vehicle is a Car body-type, pulling a Trailer.
The Car is Remote-Controlled.
Guess where the RC Sender is? >:)
(Thought of this after watching coverage of a Figure-8 trailer race.)

Re: Recently brought up topic stuck in my head
Division 1 has charm simply because it is very diffcult to come up with an effective design (though as I have pointed out before, salvaged components with less than full DP makes the exercise easier).
Div 2, doesn't to my mind offer any additional attraction over Div 5. Sometimes ...

The ones I found while poking around included an article of variants (cycles, spikes, linked weapons) and an article showing the new card art in the (then-)upcoming new printing.

http://theminiaturespage.com/ref/scales.html
I beleive 3X or the matchbox cars that are used with 3X are about 1/64th scale, which is true 25mm. 25mm use to be popular for wargaming, but 28mm is now more popular. I think wargaming terrain nowadays is marketing their stuff as both 25mm and 28mm.
6mm is 1/268th scale, I imagine that buildings and ...

I've added a 1x CWC blank map sheet (32" x 20") to the SPARK downloads pages, FWIW. (Printing individual map sheets is rather expensive, but it's there if you want it.)
My advice: learn to draw maps in a drawing or layout program.
