Seagate Sata drive question
Published (2008-11-29 00:40:15)
There is nothing missing, it's the way the manufacturers rate the drive rather than the way the actual drive appears when formatted. The manufacturers state the raw bytes, but there are really 1024 Bytes in a KByte, 1024KBytes in a MByte, and 1024MBytes in a GByte. So, 500,000,000,000Bytes/1024/1024/1024 = 465GB

Aria has a 22" for just £91 including VAT. I'm a little dubious about the image quality though. Maybe you could just buy it first and tell us about it. http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/...=34318&noVat=0 Luke

Monitor with 1:1 pixel mapping
Published (2008-11-29 00:39:33)
yeah, I think that 16:9 and 4:3 are much more 'standardized' aspects for gaming and media(TV and movies) than the more awkward 5:4(early 1280X1024 'office type' computer LCDs only) and 16:10(early 'wide screen' computer monitors only) fewer games support the rare/early 16:10 and 5:4 aspects than 4:3 and 16:9, and I don't know of any TV or movies that use those 'off beat'/in-between aspects that...

Do I need to run this in RAID?

Is it mandatory to run this HDD in RAID? Looking at the reviews it seems like it but I'm not sure. So the question is, is it possible to just have one of these or do I need 2 +

Best Range Wireless Router
Published (2008-11-29 00:38:58)
Unlikely. Wireless routers really are limited in range and you have to work with repeaters to gain significantly larger range. I would throw DD-WRT on the Buffalo, then buy another Buffalo and throw DD-WRT on it. Then, set up the 2nd one as a repeater in DD-WRT. There's lots of good information online about such a setup. Here's an example: http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials...le.php/3655041

Yeah that's a rip-off. The local shops here charge around $50-75 CAD for it. I think that's about £25-40 or so.

Ok, i have very outdated drivers, i have a 8800GT, 256MB. According to Device Manager, i have drivers 6.14.11.7824. But, on nvidia's site, it says i have 178 or something. i also heard that the newest drivers cause problems in L4D. Also, i cannot uninstall my video drivers, only disable them. Windows says "Cannot uninstall, may be required to boot computer" which is plainly not true ...

Hi I have recently been looking to buy a laptop but I haven't had much money to work with. I am currently using (don't laugh please) an HP from 1999 with a Celeron 433mhz, 160mb Ram, and a 4GB HDD. Anyway, I saw the Best Buy black Friday ad and noticed the Toshiba for $379.99. I was wondering if this is a good deal. My use for it for now will be at school, so it has to run well on the ...

As everyone knows tomorrow is black Friday. I have been waiting for a while update my computer hardware. My CD/DVD drive broke, so I am definitely looking for a new drive that plays and also burns/rewrites CD/DVD. My video card is pretty bad, I have a 21" monitor and I am forced to play on low quality and resolution to even have a playable game. Also, my processor is 64 bit but Dell hooked ...

I'm a firm believer of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it' maxim, and I'd flash my bios only IF it's necessary.....like new CPU support and such. When I've just assembled a rig, and got it to post, I'd go to BIOS and check temp like marie'd suggested. Just so that I know my CPU fan and thermal paste are doing their job. After a few mins, if the temp hasn't fluctuate wildly, I'd go to set First ...

I used to have an AMD X2 4800 (2.4ghz Dual core)... I got it replaced with an AMD X2 6000. Ever since I did this, any demanding games like Crysis, Far Cry 2 and CoD4(ones that the old CPU could handle) get really choppy fps for 5 seconds every 20 seconds or so... The CPU is running at correct frequency, and it is using both the cores, yet somehow these games eat up all of the CPUs load ...
