WHAT IF your comic book store.....
Published (2009-11-29 11:45:00)
was going out of business and had a 50% off sale on everything? What books and back issues would you buy? I do not mean golden or silver age stuff that you would flip later. I mean books you bought to actually sit down and read. Titles and issue numbers. please.

We're about the same age - my high school had about 370 - and there was about 50 of us who read comics.

Something refreshing from Marvel

I agree. A great book, and a nice surprise. Ron Frenz' classic-style art is amazing, and I kept thinking "wow, he's really channeling Buscema". But maybe that's due more to the fact that Sal inked it!

I had the same feelings about the loss of this character. I actually reviewed GLC for the Mighty Reviewers a few weeks ago. It really is a great comic and I think Patrick Gleason is also deserving of praise. He has a unique style that has really helped define the book. I'm curious if the recently departed Lantern will become a part of the upcoming Black Lanterns?

I've read mst of the Black Summer stuff, which was pretty much a "been there, done that" viloent, fast-zombie piece. The thing Ellis did for Avatar that I absolutely loved and wish he'd do tons more of was Wolfskin. This barbarian tale was top drawer. Gianluca Pagliarani's art was perfect every panel.

Pip, I think comic book readers for the most part are thirtysome males. I very rarely see kids or girls in my local comic shop. We belong to a very niche group. That said, think the reason Disney bought Marvel is that they see a HUGE untapped market in selling comics to kids. I hope they succed. Like you said, most of the storylines and characters are not written for kids. Disney ...

Can't go wrong with Miller's Wolverine four shotter. Logan vs, well pretty much all of Japan's underworld. Set back when his powers were reasonable and took some time to work, Wolvie is seriously outnumbered and outgunned for the whole story. A great read.

What is the one Superhero you are crazy about? One friend of mine is nuts about Iron Fist. Another friend is crazy about Ghost Rider. Still another, about Shazam. And another, about Nightwing.
